Out of interest how different does the facelift feel in comparison to the 17? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammeršŸ˜œšŸ˜œ

Driving position wise, they're both very similar with the only major change internally being the updated instrument panel with the second lower touch screens and redesigned door cards with the seat controls on them.

Biggest improvement I felt on a long 5hr drive home yesterday was the redesigned seats. Even without tweaking it to the exact final position I will want, the drive home was less tiring than the drive up in the 2017 although to be fair the 2017 was never difficult to drive anyway.

I like the new drivers dashboard display too and am loving the head up display. My wife has a HUD in her car but it's one of those plastic screens that pops up from the instrument binnacle and is awful so never gets used. This one has the focal point almost at the end of the bonnet which makes for much easier viewing and feels quite natural on the eyes.

The other big change was a switch from the SDV8 to the D350 engine. Initial thoughts are that the D350 feels a little bit more responsive at low speeds but I've not really been able to give it enough varied driving to confirm that. It was actually very quiet at tick over, so much so that occasionally I thought the stop/start had kicked in.

That's a lovely car, congrats. Really nice spec and looks to be in very good condition.

Interesting to hear your feedback on the seats, probably my least favourite part of my MY17. I wish I had waited an gone for the facelift car as I also fancied the P400e as my usage habits have changed.

I found my seat base to be incredibly dependant on mm perfect positioning of the base for it to not be quite tiring. Coming from an L322 I found this to be the only real negative between the two (although the bolsters on L405 are miles better!)

How is the boot space with the exec rear seating?

Thanks

I never had an issue with the MY17 seats but the new ones are an improvement.

Boot space is an interesting debate Rolling Eyes

The exec seating reduces the boot length at floor level by about 4-5" but off the floor you lose a bit more overall as the rake on the fixed seat backs projects further into the boot area than the standard seats in my MY17. AB's (and all 50 editions) came with exec seats as standard but it was a compromise I was ok with.

Also be aware that due to the bulk of the exec seat and fixed panel they don't fold as flat as the previous versions, a fact commented on by SWMBO when we collected the christmas tree earlier (although still easily accomodated a 7ft tree).

Still getting used to some of the newer bits but very happy with it Very Happy Very Happy 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

Interesting to see how you get on with it, I believe deleting the exec rear seating was an option on the AB, I saw one earlier this year which was my dream spec but was too busy buying another car so I missed out.

Wouldn't be the end of the world and it certainly looks nicer in the back seats with the trick armrest, but did feel a bit of space reduction from my L322 although not a deal breaker, was annoying. Mine gets used as a tip run wagon often so I do like the space!

I shall probably hold on to mine longer and see, but always get annoyed when I see a facelift and wish I hadn't waited Very Happy

How are you getting on with the 350 vs the v8? Iā€™ve been online fantasy shopping and thereā€™s one which has grabbed my attention, itā€™s an AB with the signature audio, opening pano, electric steps, roof rails, auto tow bar and an ivory dash and headlining, all of which are on the nice to have list!! So Iā€™m v tempted.

Itā€™s a 50:50 decision on if and when to swap. Mine has been playing slight silly bu**ers over the last couple of months but nothing serious which canā€™t be fixed, so Iā€™m debating on a change, but itā€™s nothing which canā€™t be fixed and I do like the car.

Interesting what you and Jambo say on the seats. My 16my seats have always felt too firm in the base and I get arse ache after a few hours. Was never an issue in the 322. Only affects a very small amount of the journeys I do but is annoying on the odd occasion I venture outside Derbyshireā€¦ā€¦. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammeršŸ˜œšŸ˜œ

So far Iā€™m very happy with the D350 compared to the SDV8 and it seems a bit more responsive than the SDV8. Although fuel economy wasnā€™t a huge consideration I am finding on a decent run I can easily get 520 miles on a tank, compared to around 450 for the v8 Thumbs Up

Although pretty comfortable even on long journeys, Iā€™m still tweaking my seat position (thereā€™s just too many adjustments Confused ). Took me a few months with my last one so will get there. The rear exec seats are nice but do compromise the boot space a little. I knew this would be the case but rarely need the max boot space anyway. Besides, my daughter likes the Thunderbird style powered centre console Laughing

With fewer late L405ā€™s around now I would say if youā€™ve found one that ticks all or most of your boxes then now might be the time to change. Itā€™s why I decided to switch now as I wanted the backup of an approved LR warranty and there are almost no suitable L405ā€™s listed on their site as they are all now 3+yrs old. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

Mark, if you happen to buy from group 1 [inchscape] then consider their 3 year warranty/breakdown at Ā£1750 for the whole duration...
its exactly the same as the landrover/car care plan warranty even down to the same paperwork..

Edit....forgot to mention that their warranty runs after the land rover extended warranty.. ... - .- -.

Thanks Geoff. Yes, they are a great spec. Seems to be standard AB but with a few SVA bits thrown in, like the wheels, and then whatever options were specced when it was new. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

Good Info Rob šŸ‘šŸ»

Stan, thatā€™s a good call. however the one Iā€™ve seen is from an Indy dealer. Thereā€™s virtually no 405ā€™s on LR at the moment which are near the spec Iā€™m looking for. It looks a decent car, only unanswered question from the pics is why itā€™s missing its front bonnet letteringā€¦.šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø there might be a reasonable answer or an unreasonable one. But the rest looks a peach.

When Derby was Inchape I used to get their warranty from CCP which was exactly the same as the Lr one but 1/2 the price. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammeršŸ˜œšŸ˜œ

Lots of things to get my head round and SWMBO's head exploded trying to work out the thousands of combinations of seat adjustments

Wait till you get to the myriad of screens Big Cry
I bought a P400e Fifty a couple of months ago. Same colour, but I prefer a bit of contrast
The interior was what sold it for me Thumbs Up
