Obviously been a bit chilly in the UK this week. I set my car via the I control app to preheat for 30 mins before going out this morning. Car was nice and warm, windscreen had defrosted etc which was all great… but my drivers door was as fully iced shut and only some determined pulling mixed with some lukewarm water did the trick.

I’ve owned loads of different cars over the years in some really cold weather but I’ve never had a door feel liked it’s been welded shut by ice! Is this normal for an L405 or do I have a seal issue or something?

L322 does the same. Gummi pledge (think that’s it) or similar, on the rubber seals to stop them sticking.

I’ve always used spray silicone (Halfords, Amazon etc), onto a cloth and wipe all rubber seals, it protects and prevents sticking. And, a spray on the hinges and into the door catch mechanism also helps. Used it for years.

ive always just put a light coating of a light oil (WD40 type) with a cloth on the seals of all my cars. Always worked, never any issues. First time FFRR owner

I had the same issue this morning trying to open my L405 doors. Tonight applied Gummi Pflege Stift. It is excellent stuff and after using my current bottle for a decade, I have ordered a new bottle from Amazon for £12.95 delivered  "There is no replacement for displacement" - W O Bentley

That’s fine if it’s the WD40 Silicone Lubricant, but the Original WD40 (blue can) contains mineral oil which deteriorates natural rubber, the Gummi Pfledge silicone product is the most recommended on here.
The “Thetford” spray intended for caravan toilet rubber seals works well, it’s also silicone based, and cheaper the GPf. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

There is a spray gummi and a sponge gummi, the sponge one seems to be more economical...

Been using it for years and door seal never stick - I usually do a couple of doses a few weeks apart in October or November and thats it..! Ash

I gave my front door seals a good coating of gummi plfege yesterday, knowing it was going to be cold this morning.

I swaggered out to the car at 6.30am in -3 today, had the FBH going for 30mins too so was looking forward to jumping into my toasty motor.

Only to freeze my hands off trying to open the bastard frozen doors.

Are you supposed to absolutely slather the seals in GF? I just put a thin coat on...

I gummi pfledged all the seals at the end of the summer so the drivers door opened beautifully this morning.
Unfortunately my door lock was forzen OPEN so the door wouldn't catch.
Had to hit it with the heat gun for 15 minutes and gave it a few good slams. ---------------------------------
