Just following up on fitting a resistor to fool the ystem into believing the heater element is still there and thus stop the fault being recorded:

p38arover, you must be very OCD to worry about a soft fault that throws a code that can only be read with diagnostics and doesn't give any warnings on the dash...

Am a bit late to the party - but finally got hold of a BMW part made by Mahle - it's the 88deg thermostat one and installed it without any probs

Looking at doing this MOD along with refreshing the cooling pipework. I have been on the ABBES Performance website, but I cannot see how you actually order one. I have emailed them but several days later no response.
