United Kingdom 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Corris Grey

One more isn’t really statistically significant, given the tens of thousands not reporting nothing wrong but:

Is anyone interested in 5W-40 C4 Ultra Low Saps? Anyone else really done the homework on this?

I found a well-respected supplier, but have to purchase a LOT of oil to make it happen…….. so per 20L works out about £100 SP, is that too expensive for folks? Don’t want to be stuck with a garage full of the stuff, but it’s hitherto unobtanium in the UK, or so it seems?

i.e. will not f*ck up your DPF for post 2016 vehicles with DEF/DPF, unlike C2 or C3 will do.

I am really worried about continuing to use JLR 5W-30 dumbass water, sorry “oil” in my 2017 L405 as the vehicle age and miles progress, I’d rather sacrifice fuel economy than engine longevity.

What do others think? “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

There seems to be more failures on the SDV6 on Sports. I guess it could be the extra power, lot more torque than TDV6

1. IMO it’s highly unlikely for a C3 oil to mess up your DPF. It is designed for DPF’s. The SAPs difference from the C1 is small. Have you seen oil in these vehicles after use? It’s black. I’d be more concerned with the EGR valve dumping dirty exhaust fumes and Regens dumping fuel into the engine than a minuscule amount of sulphur.

2. 2016 and back have a DPF too….

There are tons of GREAT C3 oils and very few C4.

If you do 5k mile intervals I wouldn’t worry using a C3. JMO.
