It sounds typically like a failing final stage resistor or FSR. look in the wiki on this website, and there is a good write up re dealing with the problem. It is listed at the bottom of the section headed heating and cooling. |

Quite easy to replace it. Just a bit fiddly.

Id already ordered one from PowerfulUK at £35. A little on the expensive side compared to many on ebay for very possibly the same stuff but I've found their videos to be of great use so I've always thought they're worth supporting over and above a box shifter.

The only difficulty with replacing the FSR ( aka the hedgehog ) is the off tilt angle that it comes out on, and the off tilt angle it goes back in, once under there you will see what I mean, you can feel your way to remove it, just make a mental note of the angle it came out, so that when you push the new one back in place the angle is remembered. |

The postman did his thing yesterday and I got straight on it. Before attempting to install the new unit I gave the location a darned good familiarisation which helped enormously when fitting the unit. Slotted straight in. I had a struggle for a short while orientating the electrical connection but it clicked into place and a quick test proved all to be well.
