TDV8 4.4 2011 Throttle Body Motor clicking

Car had been running well up to the point it stopped. Engine switched off ........ loud clicking noises coming from throttle body. Car went into limited power mode.

Throttle body motor unplugged ....... noise stopped. Noise also stops after total ignition shutdown a couple of minutes after switching off.

With ignition on and engine running or not I get the same symptoms.

Ran SDD diagnostics which is pointing me to a lost signal from the EGR controller.

Removed throttle body a cleaned it ....... no change when refitted.

Removed fault code and power limiting disappeared. Throttle body motor still chattering away so reluctant to drive.

Any thoughts? Is this a failed throttle body motor? Or the egr valve controller? Or something else?

Didn't mention that throttle valve does not move.

This leads me to think that EGR controller is trying to move it. UTC not getting any throttle valve position information.

I am going to replace the throttle body first. RR L322 TDV8 4.4 SE 2019 to present

If you replace the throttle body, please take the old motor out and post pictures and any part numbers stamped on the motor body. These motors are available as a separate part for lots of vehicles if you know which one. This could help others in the future.

Yes, I will do that. I did try to remove the motor cover but the first screw snapped and so I stopped there. This would indicate that replacing just the motor might be problematic. RR L322 TDV8 4.4 SE 2019 to present

I had the same fault previously, was replaced under warranty by dealer.
Mine sounded like a cog slipping. 2011 (MY12) 4.4 TDV8 Vogue

Throttle body replaced with genuine LR part (number LR020694) priced at £108 ....... FIXED!!!!!!

So, if you have the following symptoms:

1. Clicking from the top front of your engine
2. Clicks with engine running or off
3. Engine goes into limited power mode

It could be that a plastic gear in the throttle body has stripped.

I believe that throttle body repair kits are available for other car makes but looking at the price it is easier and more cost effective to just replace the throttle body. RR L322 TDV8 4.4 SE 2019 to present

Have the same problem; sure the new throttle body will work. However part from LR is 4 weeks back order. Had to pay £285 from some enterprising Bayer.

2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Baltic Blue

I have the same symptoms as sarchopperman, I went and bought a new throttle body and fitted it but still it will not start and still have the clicking coming from the throttle, my Indy is thinking it’s a wiring issue as he is getting different voltage from some of the wires going to the throttle, has anyone any thoughts or has experienced this problem before?
