lost communication with abs module won't start

Please help!

L322 TDV8 4.4 2011

missus advised that the car had not changed gear in first gear when pulling out of a junction however when she pulled in as it was just revving high as if it was just stuck in first gear she put the car in park and set off again and it worked fine all the way home, no lights on dash etc.

when I got home I plugged in a snap on solus and lots of lights came up on dash as soon as I plugged it in to the obd port, these lights on dash / codes now will not clear and the car will not start.

since then I have plugged in a topdon phoenix lite 2, which says the codes are "permanent"

the lights on the dash all seem to correspond with braking and stability inactive and no communication with abs module etc

any help to point me in the right direction of tracking down the fault etc or damaged wiring etc would be brilliant, ive checked for blown fuses, the battery is new and has been on charge,

codes are

Has it been through deep water recently? The transfer case control module, which is mounted in front of the brake m/c, is open at the bottom as are its connectors. If water gets in and corrosion sets in on the connector contacts or on the pcb itself then it can cause HS canbus faults. The TCCM could be unplugged to see if the other faults can be cleared.

no deep water, I checked the connectors which seemed fine but on other posts it seems you need to open it up to find moisture damage on the pub is that right?

at one point I thought there may be a leak inside the car as windows were steamed up at winder but I have looked in boot and under carpets and cant see any signs of moisture so far.

ill try unplugging it and see if they clear, is there anywhere else is would be looking like ground connections which corrode or cables which are susceptible to damage?

is it the case that if you unplug a module and the codes clear it pretty much pinpoints that module as the issue u/s part then?

thanks so much for all of your help, these l322's are so much more complex than my last Land Rover a td5 discovery what a jump in technology.

They TCCU is easy to open to check. IIRC one from another similar vehicle (MY10-12 L322 for you) will work as is.

While you're in the area you might R&R the ABS connectors. However the fault could be with any module on the HS canbus so you might end-up having to disconnect each one in turn, including the PCM to then clear the faults to see what improvement there is. Also the fault could be a pinched HS canbus wire somewhere. I'm reminded that the rear of the right rear seat can squash a significant cable bundle that can get out of place so worthwhile checking there. Someone had a strange fault that only occurred with the back seats occupied....

I nervously bought a TD5 D2 when first released then later a 3.0 D4 when first released so I've taken a couple of technology jumps.

is the TCCU the transfer module? sorry for my lack of knowledge with the specific names, if so ive opened that one up its completely clean looks like brand new and so do the connectors ive wiggled and reseated a few connectors all of which havnt changed the codes yet,

neither did disconnecting the ABS module and trying to clear codes or the module under the passenger seat not sure what that one was for

where is the pct located? ive found a lot in the rear either side of the load area.

thank you I will look under the rear seats and check those too.

loved my td5 would buy it back if I got the chance the best towing vehicle I can think of at the time, D4's look so much smarter though thanks again for your help im under pressure to get some kind of progress as the missus needs it for work so thanks again

Yes, TCCU is transfer case control unit.

The PCM is the engine ecu (power control module) which is on the other side but it's not quite so easy to remove. Check under the rear seat first.

thanks ive checked under the rear seat the cables kind of run down the inside of the wheel arch if that makes sense my interior is ivory so I removed the ivory trim cover once the back seat was folded forward and then there the bundle of wires are there however they all seem untouched and in good shape, ill disconnect the PCM now and see what happens thanks again

is the BCM on the back of the fusebox in the glove box? can this be removed to check if codes reset?

anyone have any other ideas of things to check by any chance? thanks

I wouldn't disconnect the BCU as it is part of the fuse panel.

You might need to find out where the major loom connectors are located to separate the front half of the canbus from the rear.

There is a HS canbus diagram in the WSM.

Hi,

thanks for your reply what's the WSM?

but I know there are some large connectors in the passenger footwell and also under the passenger seat would it be worth disconnecting at these points? thanks

Workshop manual. IIRC there's a link in the Wiki to a site from which it can be downloaded.

This is the HS canbus schematic. I would try unplugging the gearbox connector that's in the engine bay which will at least isolate the gbox (TCM) but looks like it may also isolate all downstream modules.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds?

I don't know what connectors are being suggested in another thread but give them a try.
