The person who stated that obviously didn't get the memo. There is a published Jaguar Land Rover procedure using zip ties to secure the chains while replacing guides and tensioners. Its a bit different to what you have done but it uses zip ties (called tie straps in the manual). |

Yep I did say to the "Tech" that the Repair Procedure was available using zip-ties As I already have the updated guides fitted I slightly modified the procedure and haven't removed the cam wheel covers 2009 - L322 5.0 S/C Autobiography |

Collected the new Tensioners today and they are AB suffix indicating the latest update versions available

When I was doing mine, someone in America who has a lot of experience rebuilding these told me to use a big screwdriver and gently lift the guide off the tensioner until you hear another click or two. He says he’s seen them skip a tooth when starting if you don’t.

The amount of pre-tension I had applied to the zip ties I doubt there was any slack left for the tensioner take-up I understand what was meant by the screwdriver but a slight crank rotation clockwise after fitting tensioner will also put any remaining slack into the tensioner side and I am more than happy it gonna go brum brum once I try to start it - unless it all falls off - lol lol lol 2009 - L322 5.0 S/C Autobiography |
