The DAB antenna is located in the rear spoiler. The connector may have become dislodged at some point. It's easy enough to remove the rear spoiler to take a look. Only a few bolts. Kev

When you say rear spoiler - do you mean the one at the top of the rear tailgate, so it opens with the tailgate? Not the sharks fin?

The DTC from WSM are below, maybe corrosion/water ingress etc?
![]() Of course the fault could easily be the cable to the info centre or where it connects at the info centre. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue |

Kot, regarding the above picture with antenna / amp locations, what year is that WSM manual for?
![]() Think I might need some new antenna amps ... which seem nigh impossible to find non-new. Now looking at trying if some jag parts may fit. V8 or else ... |

Some serious corrosion, glad you found the fault.
Parts seem to be different as per VIN see https://store.landrover.com/parts/index/pa...and-rover/ 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue Last edited by Kot on 21st Mar 2024 1:34pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Was going to put this in a different thread, but then thought keep it all together as its all relevant to the original post.
In a moment of genius, I figured i might be able to use the circuit board of the black box and solder on it ... I mean it must be pretty basic inside .... wrong... This confirmed to me that although the workshop manual circuit diagrams don't seem to specify it ( as far as I have read ), the DAB unit must send up phantom power through the co-ax to power the board. I also saw 2 bog blobs of solder to use ! So chopped the board ...
2 extension wires taken from a 7 pin trailer cable added
and carefully connected to the existing through artisan twisting of wires and poorly wrapped electrical tape. And blow me ... it actually kinda works ! I now have reliable BBC DAB ... other channels aren't present, but its a lot better than it was before. Gives me hope that the Jag thing will work now. V8 or else ... |

( I'm just dumping info into here so it can be referred to if anyone needs it further down the line )
So the jag unit would fit the bill ... black for radio, white for radio with phantom power. But the RR has white and brown. Which according to the table above would be TV2. So the Jag unit is not going to plug straight into the RR. ![]() It might also explain why Kot's original diagrams posted list the RHS tailgate aerial as radio / TV ... because that is what the colours say they should be. But Land Rover changed it and used the wires for different non-fakra standard purposes. I thought Lucas wiring was bad ! ![]() Edit: Tabs filed off on the jag unit so that the black connector would fit . All connected up and it DAB reception is massively improved. So that’s a result. Need to go for a longer drive to see if I get more than just the BBC stuff. V8 or else ... |
