Hi all, have a bit of a issue with my 2015 L405 4.4 V8 80k on the clock. The oil light comes on start up but disappears as soon as I move.
I have checked the oil and it is showing on the service menu as full so don't believe there is a issue there but could be wrong.
I have checked underneath on the ramp to see if I can see any leaks but again seems bone dry.
Has anyone got any ideas on where next to check before I take it to the stealers.

I think I would be looking for the oil pressure switch. It's probably not as simple as that now but something must sense the pressure and switch the light off or on as required. A temporary gauge connected to the tapping would remove all doubt. It's been like that for 100 years but probably something ridiculously complicated now.
Hopefully someone in the know will be along with details of location etc.

A simple pressure switch is still used.

If the light goes off when the vehicle moves without having increased the revs then the cause could be a bare wire earthing, but if revs need to be increased then replace the switch as the 1st step.

Oh yes, must check that plug with every filter change.

Mine does this when parked on a slope facing up. Never on the flat or facing down. Never got to the bottom of it but suspect something to do with how the oil pickup in the sump is situated. It’s definitely oil starvation as the engine noise changes when the light goes out. I always try to park facing down. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Although I do park on a hill so thinking about your message JayGee it is identical to mine.

I had the same oil light issue till I changed the broken leaf spring which sits under the oil filter since I replaced that no oil pressure light flashing on first start up 2012 Westminster 4.4 tdv8
