I have a slightly different lower tailgate problem.

The rubber either side of the lower tailgate controls the opening /closing check if its intact. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

I too would recommend deactivating the keyless function... |

You are right, -if they were activated by closure, it would be the same as an obstruction, and open the gate. Not the desired result! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that? |
