technically all you need is a power cable...

but if you want sound/music from your speakers then you could use the 'FM' channel route...you pick a FM frequency from the carplay unit and tune your radio to it..

not sure re the aux input method... ... - .- -.

I fitted the exact same Parrot phone kit in my td6, but that wouldn’t be needed with the modern CarPlay units.
I did think I had an Aux socket in the rear but can’t be 100% certain, but as Stan says tuning the radio to a spare FM slot works perfectly well.
and it is easy to route the 12v feed to the rear socket through the glovebox and between the front seats under the carpet so that it just pops out directly below the rear socket if you buy a 12v cigarette socket extension lead off eBay .

Hi
I did read about an aux socket in the central console at the back with the 12v socket but i couldn't find anything or do you mean at teh rear of the head unit?
eitherway i would be happy with the FM route tbh.
Do all of these units have the FM tune option? or do you need a seperate bit of kit?
Be nice to get rid of that Parrot and the little speaker in the footwell, which makes me think i do not have an aux input unless they were being lazy.

That looks really neat madnessgonemad.

I am planning a big operation, (the blower replacement) and whilst I'm at it and got the dash out, plan to install the latest retrofit touch screen that's just been released (does all the 4x4 settings etc), 360 camera system with blindspot monitoring, and the digital climate screen.

Will post the results when all the parts have arrived and the job is done. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

On the 2004 car, depending on if the radio has been upgraded as an option, there might not even be a centre speaker under the grille on the HSE. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

that particular setup had the usb cable in for phone connection...

the unit is capable of wireless connection so you only need one power cable which is easily hidden in the trim.. ... - .- -.

I believe that if you have DSP as an option on the screen, there will definitely be a speaker under the grill. I think there were 3 options fo hifi on the early cars. Not sure if the mid option had a speaker or not, but DSP system def does. Entry level has no speaker.

@madnessgonemad I’m looking to do the same as you’ve done to install a CarPlay screen in my L322

So just to clarify, you’ve taken out the centre vents, blocked with foam, laid a base plate and stuck the screen stand to it and covered the again with a black top plate?

Thanks
