If you look at the picture after the one you have quoted in the original post it shows where you need to insert a flat blade screwdriver. Its a pain to get at but needs to come from the end the cables come out of from memory and pushes in a plastic lug to allow the connector to slip off.

Thank you for the excellent how to guide!

I did this job a couple of months ago after order the two genuine Land Rover gaskets and a couple of 0-rings for the rear oil feed pipe. It took me a day from start to finish and I an now (and still) leak free. I even managed to break the coolant pipe you said to be careful of......and I was careful!! It's just very brittle!

Does anyone know of a good supplier for the part that is bound to break when I do this job the intercooler pipe with the coolent feed pipes? See attached pic.

It won't break unless you are very ham fisted with removing it. Main issue is the seal to the TB which can be improved using large O rings. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Well, managed to do the whole oil cooler swap and no matter how gentel I was still managed to snap the connector trying to remove the pipe which had gone rock solid on it, now waiting for new part tomorrow to hopefully finish the job!!!

Great guide on how to was invaluable in completing the job, the amount of gunk in the intake was unbelievable!!! Current

Im looking at doing this fix too as I have a 2012 4.4. my question is, I have posted pics here of my issue:

I have ordered the o rings and now I need to decide do I order:

Oil cooler gaskets
replacement oil cooler
or
Replacement oil cooler and filter housing

I have a lot of oil crud and wet oil all around the filter housing and the cooler so Im thinking just replace the lot and be done with it. What do you think?

Im thinking while I await parts I should clean as much oil residue as possible and at least that might guide me to what is leaking the most. Current yokes

Once you have gone to the effort of removing the plenum donut etc to get at it then you may as well replace the whole lot for peace of mind. The filter and cooler at one single item BTW. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I was thinking the same myself. I see you can buy the cooler or the cooler and filter housing but I'm thinking with all the sand, crud and gunk in there Ill be all day cleaning it so Im better off spending the extra 100 quid now and I know Ive new gaskets and units all the way through.

At least its a job you can do at home.. The walk through that is done here is so valuable, fairplay to everyone documenting their fixes Current yokes

I just started with taking out the plenum but I got stuck already at the beginning.
Two of those 4 Studs in the front of the plenum are siezed or previous idiot overtightened it.
one on the right side was missing, the second came undone with hand but two on the left are siezed.
Head of one is kind of rusty and does not fit to femal torx 5 and the other one is bending as soon as I put some torque on it.

Any ideas how to take them out? I really wanted to fix this oil leak before going on my 1800 km trip

If you’ve not tried already get some penetrating oil on and leave for a couple of hours. Here’s what I have used in the past:

Is that the plate across the front that the intake sits on? I couldn’t those either. I left the plate in place and there are 3 or 4 bolts underneath it holding the intake - I removed those instead.

If you have stud extractors, these work well on these in an impact wrench to pull them out.
