The part number for the console / bracket is LR045000
from https://new.lrcat.com/#!/12133/147042/148184/12056/148279
You don't need to read Cyrillic - the English text is after that Wink

The buttress may work, I think it depends upon how good a bond you get and how well the frame will withstand the flex. Personally I think that supporting the base so that the assembly has nowhere to move would be a better solution.

$129+++ new...

But heynow! $35... This is it - right?

Notice the metal inserts for proper machine bolts. Not coarse threads cutting into nylon...

Why not push this pipe dream to $550... If my wife asks - all parts were donated by a caring Rover community...

I prefer the Cyrillic - I hate for nuance to get lost in translation...

I can't believe we have pushed this crazy idea to 6 pages now...
When it starts actually coming together, I may take it to a newer/cleaner thread. 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

They took my offer for $30++ on the sub frame.

This will come as no surprise... I have done some stupid stuff in my life to be sure, but having the ONLY L405 on the planet with a proper-ish gear lever, might make Top 10...

Honestly, making this plug/play is the real trick... 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

I texted a couple of buddies that work in Roswell NM. They reached out to some of their 'contacts'... Turns out that "Donna" will actually be the only L405, and I quote, "in the known Universe" with a pistol grip shifter.
So I've got that going for me... 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

I am still seeing this as a Proof of Concept exercise - UNTIL - we can close up the console.

Having a pistol grip is cool and all - but a gaping wound in the middle of the truck kind of kills the understated opulence vibe of the Flagship...

Throwing out some cost numbers for a "Bring your own Pistol" kit...
Subframe - new $150 (I only saw 1 LHD 'Merica! on eBay and snatched it up)
L405 to L494 Conversion Pigtail - $50
3D Printed Extended L494 Bezel - $50? (not my area of expertise..)
Nutserts to mount the subframe and various other hardware - $50

$300 - you could get a kit. Find a Pistol Grip for around $400 and convert your truck to a Pistol Grip under a grand...

I wonder if my Grey buddies know anyone that does 3D printing?

PS - @Phoenix - it looks like the Scab and the L405 Pigtail may be in today's mail run... I will get you some pics as soon as they come in. 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

I was looking back at all the info supplied and saw this from Bora20 a few pages back...

I don't think the Pistol Grip can be mounted 'upward' anyway...
It appears that the L405 Spinny Knob has a symmetrical bolt pattern - if I had to guess... 65mm
The Pistol Grip has a wider footprint at the front.
65mm in the back and 80mm in the front.

So it looks like Phoenix will get his wish and we have to go down to the subframe. It should be here on Halloween...

I still have Col Reb, and I work from home... so I don't have to 'daily' Donna, but I don't want to be in and out of this console multiple times. It looks like a job to get in there and has several plastic clips that break every time you touch them. Donna is a decade younger than Col Reb, so not as brittle - but ideally one and done. 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

The LaShonda the Mail Lady rang twice today!
My 10 color wire came in as well as Hairbrained goodies...
Bunch of pics - you never know when someone will find a nugget in something unrelated

Magic Numbers for Phoenix:

Ultimately the male counterpart to that is what is required - that is the end of the loom in the L405 Console
The Pins are we surmised from the back of the female - pin 1 is high left pin 12 is low right

The pins I have fit the L405 Female fine... But are too wide for the Scab
@Phoenix - can you find an Amazon link for the correct pins and forward it? Thx

The Pistol Grip is tilted back at a pretty good angle... maybe as much as 30*. if this is a measurement we need - I can get it later

The L494 bezel is about 77 mm wide by 98mm long at the furthest point (the front is radiused)

For my Right Hand Drive brothers... do you dip the stick to the left for sport - same as we do?
OK - it's your truck... do we dip left like y'all?
Or is Sport always toward the driver's side?

Dim lighting in the garage, and yes we have a yellow dog, and yes she gets to ride...
L405 'bezel' is 77mm wide X about 115mm long

So the open wound in the dash will be about 77mm wide X 20ish mm long, and shaped something like this...

Cheers for that - I was thinking of positioning - there is a spacer to the rear of the L405 shifter - if the L494 shifter was moved into that space, it'd give more hand clearance between the shifter and the more upright instrument panel. The spacer could be used as a closing panel in front of the L494 shifter - possibly....

Are you talking about this as the 'Spacer'?
I am crazy.... but I'm going to keep this reversable...
Moving this would violate the reversibility mandate. Move it and you are cutting wood as well as the original mounting posts are there.

If it is mounted to the sub frame - it is tilted back so the Bezel should sit flat and the pistol grip will be angled away from the climate controls...

Even if the spacer was moved the total length of the L494 components is too short to fill the gap.
The L494 has a recessed bit that the front of the bezel clips into - the clips are still on the one I got.

No cuttin' up the console... Cuttin up underneath is fine... but to the world the console will look pristine-ish. 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

Yep, that's the spacer - as you say, non-destructive modification only!
I was looking at top-down photo's and it looked like an 'easy win' - probably too easy....

There isn't an easily findable mating connector for the (TE again) L405 shifter connector so I've sent a spread of emails to various suppliers - it'll be next week before I have answers.

I’d have thought a selector from a RRS would work, as the gearbox is the same and the interior trim wouldn’t need to be cut up, just remove the rotary selector and replace with the pistol grip lever. Would be interested to see if anyone has tried it.

Andy... Andy... Andy... I read this about 2 or 3 weeks ago now and thought - "Yeah, how hard could this be?"

Andy is off the Christmas Card list.

In other news - I used the bezel to calculate the rearward tilt of the Pistol Grip.
It comes out to about 21.5* and with the grip being about 150mm tall that moves it back from the climate buttons 60ish mm or not quite 2 1/2".

Given that it was not right up on the buttons before, even with my fat sausage hands - that should be plenty of clearance... Right Clarence?

@Phoenix - so you can't find the mating connector (which I don't need because of the Scab) - can you take an educated guess on pins that will fit the Scab? worse comes to worse... I can sand them thinner on the belt sander. 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

The pins are the MQS 0.63 x 0.63mm, there's a TE part number in the first TE link, I'll dig it out later after work.

As I say... if nothing else, I am coachable...
I see links to TE Connectivity (the unknown logo on the front of the L494...) from the female L494 connector. They appear to be .64 - is this them?
I don't see anything that says .63
https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-2-141915...=1452187-1

I see those on Amazon... but they must believe they are spun from pure gold!
If I am reading it right - they want $1.34 for a single connector. DigiKey has 25 of them for $4.32.

I just want to make sure I get it right with the lead time. 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'
