Hi Richard

The sensor I used is called "Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration in progress (0 - no regeneration, 1 - passive regeneration, 2 - active regeneration)" in the list - does this help?

I think I might need to choose a different car type for a different sensor list? 2016 AB SDV8 Barolo black

For my 2020 SDV8 4.4 I use the following profile. As at the time the profile for the 2020 wasn't there. I still use it as one of my sensors isn't in the newer profile.

This is the same as mine.

So I can see the correct sensor in the Sensors list within Settings, i just need to work out how to get it to appear in the All sensors list 2016 AB SDV8 Barolo black

#2 I can recommend Luxmoggys choices, I plagiarised the same ones! Laughing Bow down

Does anyone know if the service indicator being at the stage of "Service due now" (i.e. zero miles left) will prevent an active regen from happening? FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

I would definitely think not, what would be the use of that?
it would end up with a full DPF and end in tears Big Cry
Fancy testing it for us all Rolling with laughter

seriously I never let it get that far, the algorithm is pretty spot on.
If it says service due now then believe it. I wonder how many people just ignore the dash message or never see it, and dont use the Incontrol app either.
My guess is there will be a lot of bearing failures on these engines, on those that dont get regular oil changes. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

My thinking was "the service due NOW indicator has been cause by multiple failed regens, therefore the vehicle will stop attempting them as it will only serve to make the diluted oil worse, and hope the owner does actually get the vehicle serviced immediately"

I have been suffering short service intervals (5-6 months, <3000 miles) due to what I think are failed regens hence me setting up your system and starting to track it. The vehicle is due to go in for a service and reset (2nd in 7 months!) but not for two weeks so I was worried about the DPF getting full in the meantime. I've been for two long runs recently with a 100% regen score I'm surprised it's not happened and started to wonder if the service flag had anything to do with it FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

=<3000 miles is what I usually get with minimum interrupted AR's.
There is a software update available after customers complained JLR was not meeting their alleged service target mileage (16k miles). But there is no way I am having that update, and increasing the sump dilution %.

Its easy to change the oil. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Exactly.
Concensus of opinion on here after much “research” is:

(A) Change the oil & filter every 6 months no matter what.
(B) Monitor soot and don’t miss AR’s to keep your DPF alive.

If anyone has EVER got 16,000 miles between services with a diesel L405, I’d be interested to know how , even 8K would be impressive! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Just done another two long motorway runs with regen at 100% as it's been for weeks now. Still no active regen. So I'm pretty sure the vehicle is not doing it as the service now indicator is on. Hopefully will clear after next Thursday once it's been into the garage! FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

I now use a PID which also has the soot in grams, it's really a better way of knowing exactly what the calculated value is, rather than the 100% value, which after a incomplete AR, still shows 100% regardless of what the true amount of soot left in the DPF actually is.

It could be that your recent long runs have been doing PR (Passive Regens) and burning off the soot so not adding any more soot to reach the trigger point
Try using a different profile or see if there is in the profile you are using, a PID available with Soot grams. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue
