Like Abacus, I have a remote switch to isolate the OBD port and I leave the Vgate plugged in but switched off when not in use.
Interestingly (for some people) I have been monitoring regens for some time now using the Kot Kit and have managed to catch nearly all of them. What's interesting is that my distance between regens figure has been gradually creeping up, from about 150 when I first started to 250 to 300 miles now. This is with most journeys over about 8 to I5 miles and an occasional longish journey.
I wonder if a string of good regens has gradually super cleaned the DPF? If so it will be the first time in 40 years of JLR ownership that I've known a car to fix itself.🤨

Since monitoring my Regens I am at 750km between which is the maximum. I do go for special drives when a regen will happen. I think the car is happy.

I should look at wiring in with a switch. As I need to unplug or I do get a battery drain.

Can a picture be shared on how to wire it in?

eBay Item No. 204534747929. Fuse switch

I think this is the ebay item number. The fuse that supplies permanent live to the OBD port is in the fusebox behind the glove compartment. I replaced the fuse with the fuse switch lead, then you can mount the switch in a location of your choice. An eBay search might reveal one with a longer lead if you want to place it a distance away from the glove compartment. It's a bit of an anti theft device as well but I need to keep reminding my good Lady that in the event of a breakdown she will have to explain this to the AA, and reveal the secret location of the switch 😉. I'm not over confident that she'll remember.

I use an odb2 extension with switch. Just plug one end into the port and the obd2 reader into the other en. Here’s the one I bought, unfortunately currently unavailable on Amazon, but you get the idea
