United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Fuji White

Changed the rear right height sensor which appeared to have crapped itself since I replaced the drop links.

Maltings 4x4 provided the sensor, ordered yesterday, received today. Great.

Had to remove the shock so I could get a power file in to take the heads off the fixings, but all done and seems to be working. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

Fitted smoked grey sequential indicators to my L405, only £16 the pair from AliExpress, delivered in 3 weeks, They work great, fitted in minutes, more visible in daylight than the originals, and blend in very well with the Corris Grey mirrors, so IMHO they look better too, -result! Thumbs Up Very Happy “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Another happy afternoon spent, 'fitting'. New front calipers went on nae bother, the N/S & O/S top outer piston were both frozen, so both were exchanged for the refurbished calipers and new Brembo pads fitted from stock. Noticeable improvement already even before the new pads are properly bedded in.

Will be putting the old calipers on eBay as for someone who is looking for a pair to refurbish they're ideal.

Huge thanks to JMC of this fine forum for agreeing to meet me last night to collect the replacement calipers, a true life saver. Was lovely to meet you both. Thank you!

Further bonus, expect the fuel economy will rocket upwards as that N/S caliper was deffo binding, the outer pad was nearly worn out, while the inner pad was only half worn and the pads on the O/S caliper, were about equally half worn.

Worth 2mpg?

Nerd bonus, single pad wear warning sensor is fitted to the inner pad on N/S caliper. That was carefully removed and reused. Yah! Very Happy

Having decided to keep my 18 year old fatty for a few more years I got my friendly local indie to empty my wallet and treat the old girl to a full service including gearbox filter/ fluids as well as then replacing both top rear hub bushes, both front and rear callipers, disks and pads; replacing all four front lower arms and front roll bar links followed by a full steering and geometry alignment and air con replenishment.
It’s now like driving a totally different car, it’s so smooth and I try to convince myself that my tears are of joy and not the pain of the invoice Big Cry

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged Java Black

Just returned from 700 mile round trip to Tillieres in France to bring back a Daimler Double Six, four up & towing a trailer. My 2007 SC clocked up 180,000m on the trip & returned 20 mpg in comfort with no issues.
Really struggling to think how I’d be better off if I changed her for a newer one, other than the mpg. The cost to change buys a lot of fuel & as Clarkson said ‘It’s my car I’d have to drive a new one for a lot of years before it became my car’.

Due to a warm oil smell under load uphills, I replaced the O rings on the turbo oil feed pipe. Using Viton BS611 O rings.

Oil and filter today along with drain rear diff and replace oil. Bit surprised as there is no mention of rear diff ever being done in the service history or amongst the receipts I got when I bought it but the diff oil that came out at 93k was very clean.

Last night I changed both upper and lower arms on the nearside. Ball joint to do tomorrow.

Today I've fitted a replacement AC condenser and I've pulled a vacuum on the system - just waiting a while to see whether it holds before recharging it now. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

Filled it up with all my belongings and left the missus. It's amazing how much stuff you can get it in the back of the fatty with the seats folded down Laughing
On the plus side, the constant droaning I had coming from the passenger side has completely stopped, who'd have thought eh? Laughing
New home likely to be either Bristol or South Wales.
Next stop, b&q to buy an angle grinder to cut off the ball and chain.

Just a few little jobs that I’d been meaning to do for a while but never got round to it…
- new Bosch air filters (primary o/s filter was pretty dirty, secondary n/s filter was v clean but changed it anyway).
- new Bosch pollen filter (don’t forget to put it in upside down for the correct airflow!!)
- new Bosch front window wipers
- gave the engine bay a little clean, MAF and MAPT sensors, EGR pipe to plenum.

Next job, plenum and throttle body off for a clean and also need to get into the EGR valve with plenum off for access so I can give that a nice clean too. Should be fun! 😂 Andy
