but NOT the regular WD40, only the special silicone one, regular WD40 can turn natural rubber to snot, long term, not sure about Nitrile.

Better to use a squirt of IPA, which will do the job then quickly evaporate, leaving nothing behind to damage the rubber.
I use it as a temporary lubricant to remove handlebar grips on bikes, which can be a pig to get off otherwise.  “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I’ve had this working flawlessly for a month or two now. However, the past two days it no longer powers on. Nothing has changed as far as I can tell. Overhead console is functional, no blown fuses.

I'm having a complete mare with fitting the rear camera. Front camera is in and seems to be working OK. I've managed to get the cable as far as the rear tailgate. I have left my electricians fish tape and pulling lube somewhere else, annoyingly, and am struggling to work out how to get cable through to the tailgate itself. The rubber tube that leads to the tailgate splits further inside the tailgate. Presumably I am supposed to pierce the currently watertight sheath in order to get the cable through.




To make matters worse, while trying to dislodge the grommet at the body end, I think I broke the white plastic internal clip, so it no longer seats. Any suggestions as to how I can remedy this. Replacing the entire rubber tube might need me to dismantle and rewire everything in the tailgate.





I am slightly regretting not paying the extra to have it fitted by the dealer.

Getting the wire through the rubber grommet is a pain but doable.

The instructions gives measurements for drilling the tailgate I used an electrician rod to fish mine through, from the hole I drilled then pulled it back through. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

I removed both ends of the rubber grommet and the clip. As above you can then use a piece of wire or flexible plastic cable to pull it through. The grommets push back in place. MY23 D350 HSE
