2008 TDV8 Key Battery

Hi everyone does anyone know of hand what battery is used in the key fob. I should know I took the key apart a few weeks ago and spent 10 mins getting it back together. I will pull it apart again if required but i've also found its best to open these things up as few times as possible or perhaps I am just to cautious.

The cell in a 2008 flip key isn’t a 2032. It’s a rechargeable battery that’s soldered onto the board.

It’s a VL2330 from memory.

Update - here’s the link to the kit I bought to refurbish mine.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253381274834?mk...media=COPY

The battery is a sod to get off the board as it needs to be unclipped and unsoldered at the same time.

Apologies all. The key I have with the car is an after market key. Although I looked up the so called battery on EBAY. sorry not your link @dhallwork my own detective work ! I have just stripped the key and found a CR1632 inside not the EBAY solution. I have recently purchased the car, I will replace the battery and see how long it lasts. I need to buy a second key anyway...... Any suggestions? where to buy. I understand the OEM keys are quite expensive.

Hi all. update on the key front. Note I have just purchased the car and I am still learning about it.

I enclose pictures of both keys I have stripped down.

One key is an original with an original battery and board and a dodgy broken blade. This remote works and you can access the
and unlock the door but you cant start the engine with it. Note the blade is broken and a half a***d attempt at a copy has been made.

The second keys is a replacement from someone, It has the same shell but a smaller board and a CR1632 battery. The blade works and it starts the engine. The remote works but I replaced battery about three weeks ago and it is already about to give up !

Short term solution I have moved the original board and battery into the new shell and blade. I will get an other CR1632 short term as backup.

I have been looking on line and I can easily find the shell and battery and I think board but I am struggling to find the right blade to copy. The blades shown on line seem to be to fit a Range Rover Sport and from looking at them they are slightly tapered rather than fully straight. I don't know if that will make much difference?

I will keep looking and update if I find a proper reasonable solution.

Cheers

The short answer is I don't know, hopefully. I will use the original board / battery and see if I have any more issues. Thanks for the info Thumbs Up Willie

Make sure and only fit a Duracell battery to the key as others makes on my other car keys don’t seem to last.
