The USB should be fine. Re the problem with the reverse camera, have you got surround cameras? Unlikely I would have thought with your model year.

Ask the people who fitted it if they have programmed it for cameras when they set it up as that might cause problems John

Took advantage of the version 5 offers Navtool have been doing (Not wireless), fed a USB cable through to the centre storage unit and the 3.5mm audio into the rear aux ports. All working a treat - I think the plug and play loom makes for a much nicer install experience than what was required at the start of this thread. Not sure if I'd have been bothered to hack about like that.

It's been faultless so far, quite tempted to get a camera to use for lining up the towing hitch... I suspect the ability to add cameras is going to be just as useful as the phone bits!

I had it shipped to the UK and fitted it myself - not a difficult job if you can solder a few wires together. I'm sure any auto-electrician would do it for a reasonable price .. It fits in the boot next to the SatNav so no dashboard dismantling required.

I think this is the critical bit! I’ve seen one referred to elsewhere where he has to dismantle the head unit itself to put a new circuit board in!

May splash out on this. Thanks for a great write up. Tym

If it sticks, force it. If it breaks, it needs replacing anyway.

I have the wireless version in my 2008 FF. It is completely plug and play. The instructions may not come with it but if you contact them they will send you a copy. I think they are being over protective of their product. They want to confirm you have a unit from them?

If you have a problem I have the instructions somewhere.

IMHO it is excellent. I don't even need to take the phone out of my pocket.

There have been some upgrades since the version 4.0. For example, you can set the screen for right or left hand position. Helps with SWMBO as she can have the screen controls on her side to fullfil her "controller" function. Whistle John

Unnecessary quote removed

Just realised that this may be why my Siri isn't working. I didn't get a microphone with my kit. "Hey Siri" wakes it up, and it waits for me to speak, but I think that's the phone that's picking it up. If I try to send txt using Siri as I used to in the Merc, nothing happens - it doesn't pick up my voice. Tym

From your previous post, you have the wireless Version 6 0. There is no mike supplied with it as it uses the original car mike John

Hi Tym,

I also have the wireless version 6 and no mic, however my Siri works fine. I haven’t used it for texts, but have for requesting music through Spotify. The phone mic picks it up and it is then relayed to the Navtool through CarPlay. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography

The audio is still wired through the AUX. The wireless aspect is for the connection of the phone to the car. John

How is the sound quality on the Navtool in comparison to the CD player or Bluetooth?

So, i bite the bullet and ordered a unit. But it seems i get a faulty one. I installed everything like manual (the version with adapter harness) but the interface will not show up, i hear the chirp but my screen says no navigation fitted. Dis anybody experienced this failure? Thanks
