Doesn't spin free when cold on mine. Definitely feels like it's connected to something with 'drag' 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

You are aware that the engine cooling fan is electrically controlled with a variable lockup clutch controlled by a PWM signal, aren't you? the checks above won't really tell you much about the correct operation of it. ETA: From Topix

The fact that it makes a loud clicking sound would be enough for me know something is very wrong without any other tests. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Mine doesn't tick. It doesn't 'rev up' when started but does when moving off hot or cold. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Mine isn't a TDV8 but a 4.2 Supercharged. I also had a problem where the viscous fan made a loud metalic clicking noise when cold, it worked otherwise and cooled the car properly. I bought a new viscous fan as the noise became annoying. |
