The PAS pipes can knock when held on full lock as it's overloading the pump.

Would that happen only when on full lock? It can happen at a few different points when turning the wheel from memory but defo more when closer to full lock.

Tightened a bolt on the control arm that appeared to be slightly loose but still a load knocking noise on or near full lock (mainly when turning right). The search goes on as all looks good and quite new in every aspect of the front suspension. |

Could be from a lot of places, drop links are always a popular source, you can disconnect one, move it out the way and try it, if noting else it will eliminate the drop link and ARB bushes... Pete

I assume you have tried the CV joints for play? The outer will knock on full lock when turning at low speed under power. MOT failure too. |

I think they are ok (everything we looked at looked ok!). But will check again. |

Not sure if they’re a similar set up to a D4 but could be the steering lock stops on the lower arms a drop of grease normally helps |

Had the car looked at again and the drivers side front lower arm subframe bolt was loose, was missed in the first inspection somehow. Replaced the bolt and nut (both oem) to the correct nm and the knock has gone. Not sure what was wrong with the previous bolt to stop it tightening correctly, guessing it’s original so quite old but the bolt itself looks fine, the nut was quite rusty so perhaps the culprit. Will clean up the bolt and put it in my spares box. 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8. |
