I knew where everything was on a 322.... now I'm dithering when I need to press a specific button.... why have they moved everything, even the bonnet pull is on the wrong side and the catch has moved from the side to the middle... and as for were they have hidden the battery...!!! Turned the lights on last night and opened the side air vent....

Are there classes I can go on to teach me it all.....Lol...

Still regret selling my L322 and buying a 405, maybe its because it was a 5.0L petrol. But the 405 is the better car Geoff

I drove them today, back to back, I like the 322, always will but IMHO the 405 is better in every way, I know the consensus is that it's not a RR but I think the DNA is there, it's a 322 that has been polished...  Pete

Well, it does more to the gallon, it’s faster, it won’t have rusty wheel arches, you can get a panoramic roof and a bloody enormous hifi.

If I get one, it will be an AB with the Signature system and opening roof….

One thing that terrifies me about the L405 is the body corrosion that’s been picture above the rear subframe.

I wonder if it’s a common thing as it’s one major thing stopping me looking at them.

I saw those pics too…. I did wonder if you could prevent by putting a gasket or something in there, stop the 2 metals touching… or maybe that’s too simplistic….

With most garages having TIG welders it's not really a big issue, bit of welding...job done...

Mark, not just that, the doors close better, the windows are smoother, the steering has more feel, the climate is just that bit better, the seats cool and heat better... it's every last bit.... I've heard people moan about the "small" boot but it looks about the same to me, and it's easier to use with a lower bottom tailgate... Even the speedo needle goes under the numbers on the TFT screen so you can easily see your speed...!!

I can't find anything that hasn't been improved...pop over for a drive any time you like...  Pete

I am also on the fence, I , like Pete, have both at the moment so can offer my opinion, basically when I am going out I 90% choose the L322, I am however a luddite.

Also I can testify that the 322 has a bigger boot as we carry a lot of horse stuff and cant nearly get as much in the 405.
SWMBO loves the 405 so that's that as usual

Fatty had it's first long drive on Friday, a 500 mile plus round trip and it behaved impeccably, was extremely comfortable with four adults on board and just eats motorway miles with ease...

Then today the first "bong of doom" and "Suspension fault Restricted performance" pops up although it ran fine, I was a few miles from home so slowed down, then "bong" again and low left rear tyre pops up, then just as I'm getting home the third "bong" this time just to let me know it was colder than 4c... Let's hope they don't come in threes every time...!!

So plugged in the IID and

also several canbus faults across various modules...

So I was just thinking when I would dive in there and sort the compressor filter out when it occurred to me that I have a warranty (don't think I've ever had one before...lol) so I called JLR Assistance and a short while later a very nice man arrived, parked behind fatty on the drive, read the codes, diagnosed the filter, he cleaned it out (see how long that lasts) then noticed that three modules needed software updates as someone had updated some modules in the past but not done all they should...

He then wanted to go for a test drive so backed his van up the drive, by now it was chucking it down, he backed up the road and reversed straight into a street light, knocking it over about 30degrees and knocking the top off... It now looks like the light off "Top Cat" as it's flashing on and off as the top is hanging by the lead...

The test drive went well with no faults coming back so that's the important thing...

I hope every fault is as easy to deal with, but maybe without the other excitement...

These warrantees are great...

That’s good then Pete. Progress is progress. I just get the impression I’d miss the L322 like crazy. Though I very much like the idea of the Signature hifi and a panoramic roof. Only other thing that enters my head sometimes is whether the Sport would be nice for a change… wash my mouth out 🤣. It just looks well in certain colours and a bit more squat…. Though it was cheaper new than the 405, they look similar prices now….. so the 405 is still more bang for your buck…. But… as we know, someone will pull up beside you in a fullfatrr and you’ll be thinking 🤔🤣.

Mostly only me in the car… must be getting old 🤣🤣
