I had a boost leak that must have been developing for a while (short pipes going into donut) that I sorted and the common fuel sender fault that meant I had to time it right to get the fuel level low enough to fix. That's all now been done and I've just gone through a full tank of fuel (don't do lot of miles) and got the fuel warning after 560 miles. I have noticed that fuel consumption is very good most of the time, but does increase significantly for no apparent reason and I can only assume is the dpf regenerating. It does this a lot and I'm starting to consider whether I should have got that mapped out too. I didn't think it should been engaging so often and really thought it would be a rare occurrence. I should note that I created an egr blank and blocked that off in case it was leaking. Cam 2011 TDV8 Vogue in Stornoway Grey |

I may be late to the party here but I just spoke to my indy, who states that you can program the EGR permanently shut and then program the engine management to completely ignore the EGR. The DPF can be kept as is and should be fine.

Will it be possible and make sense to blank the EGR, but leave the DPF on 4.4 TdV8?

I'm feeling the urge to make my 4.4 TDV8 a better drive, as I find it way too annoying. (yup I bought the wrong car). I'm still unclear if its safe to map out the EGR as part of a remap? Is there any change in emissions with the EGR mapped out, that could affect an MOT aka fail? Also has anyone had a remap and regretted it? Encourage alternative fuels, use all the petrol!
