I am not able to use side jacking points, due to the deployable sidesteps. been using the bottle jack.
which is a bit of a pain as it takes long time.
thats why was looking to buy a trolley jack to speed up the jacking up process.

I just bite the bullet and take the steps off.
Is a right pain, but needs must.

There’s a few places you can use once you e got a trolley jack, the central points can be a bit of a pain to access but once you’ve worked it out, you’ll have the front or back up in no time.

I don’t have deployable steps, but can you not lock them out to access the jacking points or chassis rails?

Pretty sure deployable steps can only be locked in the stowed position.
In theory, you might attempt to get around this by keeping a door ajar to maintain the step in the deployed position.
In practice though I think the jack lifting arm will then probably foul the step.

Try searching elsewhere on here, the DSS’s have a jacking point built into their brackets, -you stow the steps, and jack under the stowed bracket using a notched adapter “puck” if using a proper 3Te trolley jack.
This is also covered by the workshop manual in the Wiki, read carefully!

Hope this helps, no need to deploy the steps, only deactivate. Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

i think L405 deplyable sidesteps have a built in jacking point, no9t the L322 ones.

I have the SGS 'large 4x4' kit with the trolley jack with the extension which seems well made (as do the axle stands).

Has ample lift to get the vehicle up however, the axle stands are too large to fit under the wishbone mounts when jacked.

The other thing is that the jack bar (the bar you pump with) isn't long enough to reach under the rear sub frame between the exhausts so, I end up having to jack from the rear jack points on each side instead.

So yeah, a bit if a mixed review from my perspective from SGS.



The other thing I found their service is poor. The manual says to check all parts for manufacturing defects before using and report if you find any. I put the jack on a completely flat surface indoors and one of the wheels was off the floor. I reported this to SGS immediately and they took over 3 months to get back to me (by which time I'd gone sod it and used it). They then had the audacity to say if they can't find a defect, I'd be liable for shipping. When their own product instructions say to report anything that doesn't look right!!!!

So yeah, do they look well made, yes. Did I find a manufacturing defect, yes. Would I use them again, No. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

So I finally used my new shiny jack in anger and was disappointed to find that it has insufficient lift when using the central lifting point between the exhaust pipes. There is no space to use a block of wood but that may have caused instability any way because I was using the extension lifting pad.

But I got enough lift to get some axle stands in place and then used a pair of small trolley jacks to lift the lower arms to get the tyres off the ground.

I tried this at both off road height and normal height, but did not try access height due to access issues under the car.

So three trolley jacks to get both wheels off the ground at the same time, a real pain but it did the job
