Bluetooth Module Failure?

My phone connected fine to the internal bluetooth system on my '11 TDV8 for the first six months or so but suddenly it can no longer see the bluetooth module to connect. I'm guessing the unit might have failed ut I have no idea how to locate it or work out what is going on. Any ideas?

Search the forum and I expect you’ll find something on it. I vaguely recall reading that it’s in one of the cubby holes in the boot.

Now my display keeps switching between the various options without any other input. The Bovee connected music stops and restarts frequently, i.e. every few seconds. It does the same with the Bovee unplugged. Give it a while and it returns to working normally. Until the next time.

Any idea what might cause this, particularly after losing the direct bluetooth phone connection recently also?

your Bluetooth module has died, probably from water damage. left boot panel is where it is. replace it and all will be well

Check the terminal connectors mine had turned a bit blue due to corrosion

Interesting that the car is also showing:

U0128-00 (2E) Lost communication with parking brake control module
U0159-00 (2F) Lost communication with parking assist control module

Not sure about the first one but the parking assist control module appears to be pretty close to the bluetooth module. Could the two problems be related?

Any suggestions as to where to start looking?

Hi the parking aid module is in the right hand cubby, the BT module is in the left cubby with all the audio kit. So probably not related.

The BT module is on the top of the stack of audio equipment. To check if its the BT module causing your issues you need to remove it from the MOST ring and connect a MOST bypass connector (available on eBay) so that the MOST ring is complete. If this clears your problem then you have proved that the BT module is faulty.

Mine is a MY06 which had a Nokia module but I swapped it for a 2010 module, hopfully this picture will help a little, the BT module is the one at the top with the orange MOST cable

Not on my car it’s not. The parking aid module is bolted vertically to the bulkhead about six inches down from the CD player and Bluetooth module.

That's odd, my info comes from the manual and I cant imagine that a previous owner moved it. So very strange.

However the rest of my advice stands, isolate the BT module first, if that does not work then isolate each module on the MOST ring until you find the fault. Assuming of course your fault is caused by one of those modules.

The battery reads 12.0 - 12.2V with the engine off and 14.0 - 14.4V with the engine running.

I do seem to have an number of other intersting issues though.

The IID Tool can't see the handbrake control module despite the handbrake working fine.

IAlso, my radio is also switching between options and I have absolutely no idea why some are enabled then disabled then all seems fine for a bit then it starts flickering again.

Any and all ideas welcome...
