Great news, but don’t force it too often or you will risk getting oil dilution problems and need to be doing extra oil changes..

Just changed my oil because it said service needed. My IID tool said oil dilution was 3. So is the mileage involved as well? |

The WM gives this explanation , all very complicated, but seems to involve, time since last service, amount of fuel used, mileage, ?? Mike. Thanks Mike. I'll count 3 as being good then, probably. |

I'm just about to try this forced regen as I've had my first ever yellow warning (which has actually gone off again now - I actually think the garage did something as it came on when it was being delivered home after a service).

Sorry, but I can’t give you a 100% answer because I have had different experiences , but what I usually do is watch as the soot gramma fall to single figures then stop at the next convenient place, lay-by etc and stop it by pressing the Quit word and removing the iid.

Cheers. I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to do it but will do what you suggest when I do. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE |

Absolutely agree. On other cars where I've had this facility with a diagnostic device it's come with big warnings. Should only be used in emergencies and if a long >50mph run doesn't clear a yellow fault you have other issues that need fixing ASAP 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Completely agree - the Successful Regen field does not populate consistently after regens - natural or forced and under the same conditions it will sometimes tick up sometimes not.

I haven’t needed to use the iid forced regen facility for a while, but today I decided to give it a good clean out .
I know from past experience that the display doesn’t show readings below 1g correctly, and that 6g is actually 0.6g as confirmed by the live value reading of 0.558g at completion. Mike. I love this forum for educating me on the DPF in my car and helping me avoid the dreaded amber or red warnings.
