Cheers Mike, just concerned with what may happen if at around 30,000 miles (from the amount of regens) someone has gutted the DPF and I force a regen...!!

I have a friend who does remapping, I will get him to download my software and see if anything has been mapped out or modified, it might give a clue...

In the meantime I have the IID in the glove box so I guess I can do a forced one if it faults...

Cheers Pete

I’d avoid a forced regen unless you absolutely have to as it generates a lot of heat and stress on components. It really should be a last resort to fix a blocked DPF.

After a moment of reflection, I'm with you on that one Thumbs Up Pete

Pete,
On reflection,
Forced regens are really only a last resort to be used if you get a red alert visit dealer type of message.
If it is running fine and returning 30+ mpg, then hold off for a while .
You would be able to see sleeves either end of the DPF if it has been off for any reason., but I have no idea about mapping.
I do know that it is an automatic MOT fail if they think it has been tampered with in any way.

Thanks Mike and Rob, I will have a look at it next week when it gets on a ramp, not sure if I will post any "evidence" on here though... Rolling with laughter Pete

If the DPF has been gutted there would be no pressure differential across it and thus it would show zero g soot load. A new or clean DPF will flow more exhaust gas at a higher pressure differential than an old and partially ash filled one so again the point at which it needs to initiate a regeneration may be higher. Just drive and monitor it and only worry if you get warning lights. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Yep, it just goes to show how a diagnostic tool can be a two edge sword... Plug it in and maybe you will learn more than you want to...!!!

It's not giving any warnings, it does over 30mpg in normal driving and pulls well and cleanly... I don't think I will do anything until fatty tells me otherwise.... Thumbs Up Pete

Good plan. Use the IID when you need it not when you think you need it Thumbs Up Rolling with laughter Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Gap11 Update

Even so I think it good to know that the gap tool update has been made available now thanks to these postings. New to range rover’s and after a few replacements of sensors, rightly or not, it gives hope to a new owner. I learnt that a decent run will sort things out. Had mine for 5 years now but needed to take such a drive three weeks ago after the dreaded yellow warning! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Tool updated this morning thanks to everyone's posts here and will plug into the FFRR asap to check it out!
Thumbs Up Dave
