5k on servicing costs? Crikey Moses! I’m currently considering taking the plunge on a 4.4 but had budgeted max of 2k per year on servicing. However, fear of something significant going ‘pop’ is currently putting me off! Would love one though! |

Mine is a pretty similar experience albeit servicing was nearer £3.5k despite front suspension issues needing addressing in 2021

£5k includes a contingency fund for the unexpected. Just getting insurance quotes and it's looking like the contingency fund will include some of that.

Well I drive into the west end pretty much every day no ulez 2007 s/c do about 25k miles a year and spend about 3k on servicing tyres etc full business use 350 quid a year had the car 9 years its well over 200k heading to 250 cheapest car I have run cost 14 k all those years and miles ago |

Yep 3k for 25k miles I do the gearbox oil every 30k change tyres when they get down to 4mm and anything that seems a bit on the way out is changed before it goes wrong including paintwork as when it needs it |

Nice one. Maybe SC is the way to go then. I reckon I do circa 15k a year.. Slightly concerned about fuel cost but meant to be more reliable than the 4.4 tdv8. I go round in circles! |

I do 15k miles a year and the fuel cost on a 5.0SC over 4.4 was substantial enough to even outweigh the ULEZ charge. <20mpg>30mpg.

When I had my 322, it didn’t need anything like that amount of fettling. A couple of arms, some pads and discs, a new airbag and strut, gearbox service, tensioner, belts, idler pulleys, top hoses, and fluids and that was about it in 4+ years, but these cars are getting older now and I suppose they will need more fettling….. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

But you haven’t spent the contingency fund of £1,500 so I’m not sure why you are including it in your calculation of running costs 🤷♂️. |
