Well, hopefully he keeps his word. I've no reason to doubt it though.

I've got a company very close who are LR specialists but more so the agricultural rather than Range Rover me thinks.

Not aware of any other nearby specialists but I'll have a wee search. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

So, just back from having the car scanned.

It had 31 error codes when he first plugged it in so cleared them and then drove 2 miles and scanned again:

Speed Control Module
U0421-81 Invalid data received from ride level control module

Powertrain Control Module
P040D-00 Exhaust gas recirculation temperature sensor A - circuit high

Ride Level Control Module
C1A36-01 Exhaust Valve

He's going to price up the required parts and pending more investigation, will order and replace.

In the meantime, can anyone tell me if any of these are serious or perhaps indicators of a problem?

P040D-00 Exhaust gas recirculation temperature sensor A - circuit high - this is a common fault / sensor fail. It's a tricky to get at sensor but a lot of people seem to just run fine with it in this state. I had mine fixed but not noticed any difference. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I've done quite a bit of searching about it on here and other places. Seems to be a 13+page thread on it but can't see any definitive info. Last thing I'd want is to ignore it and find it has an adverse affect on something else down the line. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

I would get it done or you will be forever wondering, if the dealer has said he will cover costs why not, the sensor is around £150 and fitted total price around £350. It’s a simple job but a pig to do due to access. I should imagine the other two faults are related and may as simple as the exhaust valve on compressor. It may just be blocked. I sure more peeps will tell you more and even have definitely answer.

Well, had the health check this morning.

Given it had an MOT last month with no advisories. I'm somewhat surprised at the state of the brake lines and brake shield at OSF - which is catching in the disk. That explains the Squeeking and Grinding,

Compressor does need replaced.

Will see what the dealer says. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

Get the P040D done at dealers cost then at least it's been done and won't cause any potential issues if DPF ever went to red for an unrelated reason. That's my 2p anyway!
Taken me a while to get my "spot on" and still bits crop up e.g. stuck rear caliper Big Cry Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

So, quote back is £1300 odd.

Dealer has suggested they pay half but asked me what I want to do.

I like the guy and he seems honest enough to me.. and I'm not an asshole.. but I genuinely don't think I should have to pay any of it really. Was gonna suggest 75%/15% split.

What do you think? 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

75 / 15 split isn’t gonna work 🤔

If you don’t feel you need to pay any, ask them to explain why you should…..

Think the brake shields are about £70 and hub needs to come off, unless you cut the new one to slide it in.

I think compressors tend to be £700 ish fitted… and I paid £350 ish for brake pipes in January from a specialist if it helps you work the maths out.

Take the 50/50 and move on if these are the only things wrong with it. The dealer could insist your only other option is to return the car for a full refund as they now know there are only a few issues they could fix themselves and then sell it to another customer for more money. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Yeah, I meant 75/25 haha.

The parts costs aren't too bad - the labour is £75/hour.

The compressor doesn't appear to be an entirely new unit.. "KIT - COMPRESSOR OVERHAUL" and that's £414.

I hear what folk say about 50/50 however, I had planned to do a complete fluid change and some other preventative work anyway which would be near the 1k mark on its own. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'
