I had the same issue... thee starter internal contacts are the guilty ones. I changed the starter and everything is fine. Known issue for the 2010-12 4.4 diesel |

A known issue is the trigger wire from the starter relay to the starter solenoid not being able to carry enough current to cause the solenoid to be operated with sufficient force to hold less than perfect contacts closed. The wire is over 6m long, half of which is 4mm2 and the other half 2.5mm2. People have found that installing a replacement wire between the relay and solenoid overcomes the starter malfunction. A new starter will also overcome the problem while the contacts are in good condition. |

Makes sense, is it a new part code or another piggyback wire? SOLD | Tuned MY 2011.5 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey | e-diff | ACC

Not a LR fix, just a length of appropriate gauge wire fitted with the required terminals. |

Have cleaned the busbar and the mega fuses, they all seem to have some oxidation. Also found some oxidation CJB earthing point.

Mine seems to be behaving since i did the cleanup work, bad supply/earth to JBC/BCM can explain all of the issues i was having. Car is cranking @ low voltage even. Residue build up seems inevitable due to age and use.
