I did same with a phone charge lead that has a red LED to show power supply. In the boot socket it continues to glow red after superlocking the 2008 model.

It would be good if another 2010/11 owners tried same and posted results?

Would love to but dont want to risk the battery and the vehicle not starting so daren't Rolling with laughter

Will have a go and report back Thumbs Up "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

What a dreadful state of affairs that you have to rely on a solar charger or battery conditioner to enable you to start your £70k car. Time LR got their ars3 into gear abd sorted the problem out

They are, they realised that money clearly does not go hand in hand with common sense, in fact have realised that a number of owners are complete morons and forgotten they bought a car. To this end they do not understand that it should be driven to charge the battery and run all the toys. LR have responded by reprogramming the park heat/cooling function so it runs and then doesn't require the car to be started and driven for a while to recharge the power used. Rolling with laughter

Those same morons don't experience the same problems with the Mercedes/Lexus/BMW/Audi/whatever they also own, which has an equal number of toys to be powered.

Apparently my new battery has arrived.

The old one was a 90A-h 950CA and the new one is an 85A-h 850CA so less on both accounts.

Having it fitted next week so will see what happens Thumbs Up "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

My new battery is a 95ah, with 850 CA

Am still getting some issues - like the fan going off by itself, radio shutting down after 30 minutes sitting in the car with engine off and the low battery please start engine caption coming up.

Attitude of dealer - Beadles - has been curious. In part, initial reluctance to believe there was a problem, and I was fobbed off by them until someone there "overheard" that another customer had a problem and approached me as he realised I also needed the LR fix - and he had arranged about half a dozen in the last week or so.

So fix is now in.....but he didn't say anything about software upgrades. I guess the summer is coming now, so the Park Remote will not be used in anger for a few months. But come the first frost, if it doesn't do the job and I am fobbed off...then letters will start being sent to senior LR management at various and all levels.

Your radio should shut off after 30minutes, that isn't a problem with the battery - it's supposed to save you from problems with the battery though. All my FFRR's and RRS's have powered down the radio after 30minutes without running the engine 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Tim

Thank for that. So when the radio shuts down, is the low battery warning, please start engine also meant to come up when it shuts down?

Another update on mine:

I had a 'reprogramme' and the silly random heaters than kept coming on were disabled.
This stopped the heaters coming on (and staying on for 30mins!).
And everything else seemed fine.

But we've just done a good run over to France. morning of the trip...I get 'low battery' warning.

No probs. All ran fine. Assumed the 700 mile (each way)trip would fully charge the battery....

But have now seen the low battery warning since returning from france.

So either the first round of 'fan stuck on' faults - ruined the battery and nothing will fully charge it OR something else is not powering down properly and is draining the battery still.

Will call Dealer tomorrow and get her booked back in. Will update when I have more news.

Suppose I ought to insist on a new battery?

Comments?

The trip was awesome thanks (Burgundy).

the FFRR was ace. 95-100leptons the whole way for 5+hrs, no worries. Supremely comfortable and spacious...brought back a dozen cases of wine....no bother Smile

Be happy once battery issue sorted though.

Rambles I had the same type of issues with the battery - engine fan going on in the middle of the night all by itself etc. Dealer updated software and the problem hasn't reoccurred in 3 months. Haven't changed my driving habits (some days it's only 3 I'm to the office then back home again) and the battery hasn't been replaced, so maybe ask if you have the latest software?

Your vehicle is 5.0 S/C though and from what I hear the problem is affecting diesels the most due to the amount of power the vehicle needs to start.
