Adding Timed/Remote Climate to 2017 model - it can be done

After missing this from my D4,I decided to see if it could be done on the 2017 models which have the later Incontrol Touch Pro (widescreen) ICE and Eberspächer FFBH fitted but not configured as a park heater. (2018 onwards will be different as I believe these are fitted with the Webasto Heater.)
The answer is YES it can, but is not as plug and play as earlier models. It seems that if the vehicle was not delivered with the timed climate feature then the wiring for the remote receiver in the rear of the vehicle is not present and so some wiring needs to be added and a suitable location found for the remote receiver and antenna. Also the valve and associated plumbing which diverts the water from the FFBH to circulate solely around the heater circuit is not present, although strangely the wiring is, - this is not critical as we shall see later.

Items needed:
Working copy of JLR Pathfinder software - free to download but requires working Topix subscription.
DoIP interface for programming vehicle. (Unfortunately this cannot currently be done with the IID tool)
CCF editing software
I believe the G3/4 version of the IIDTool with the latest software can now do the required CCF edits.
Remote Plip LR083895 (LR branded) or LR033464 (RR branded) - either will work but usually the LR branded one is cheaper.

Remote Receiver LR033462 (CPLA-18D540-AA)

Antenna for receiver (a glass mount 433MHZ antenna with Fakra I type connector will work)

To start, as there was no wiring fitted for the FFBH receiver I needed to find somewhere to install it. I settled for the compartment behind the FFBH, attached with double sided tape.

The power feed was tapped from the FFBH supply on the FFBH harness with a separate fuse. As I had a contact insert I fitted this to the socket on the vehicle loom for the receiver data connection, this could also be tapped into the FFBH harness.

You will also need to source a connector for the receiver, I was lucky as I had one to hand.

After a few experiments for positioning I mounted the antenna on the plastic housing for the radiator shutters, next to the horns. Range is good enough to use from indoors. (I've not tried an absolute range check). Don’t mount it on a metal surface otherwise the range will likely be reduced to feet.

If you wish, you can add the extra plumbing and diverter valve, this needs the heater to be removed and although I have the parts I still have not gotten atone to doing this. Without the diverter valve the HVAC will give an error saying the valve is faulty but have no effect on operation (as on the D4)

Using Pathfinder and the CCF editor set the following parameters:
# Parameter Description Value
33 [EUCD 022] ADDITIONAL HEATER 0x03 Fuel Fired Parking Heater (FFPH)
79 [EUCD 056] Callstart of Parking Heater 0x03 Callstart of Parking eater accessory only (via radio)

Save the CCF back to the vehicle, a software update to the HVAC may be prompted.

Still within Pathfinder, within the IMC section, select “Learn CCF” - without this the timed climate option will not be displayed.

Check for and clear any fault codes, if you haven’t installed the diverter valve there will be one related to this;
B12B2-13 (6C) Auxiliary heater coolant diverter valve - General electrical failure - circuit open
it is safe to ignore this.

The heater remote should now work as if factory fitted.

The remote plip does give some feedback:
Green flashing after pressing a button indicates the command was received
Red flashing indicates an error condition, either a fault, command not acknowledged or plip battery low.

Unfortunately I can't remember where I got the antenna from. It doesn't need to be a type I connector, a type Z (universal) will also do the job. I used a type I as I wanted to to match the connector on the receiver.
If I was doing it again I would most likely get the antenna and connector separately:

Connector body is Landrover part no YPC915820, it is made by TE Connectivity (Tyco) I think part number 1355082-3 but most suppliers seem to only do them with minimum order 1000+
The connector inserts I used were ones I had at work that fitted, I believe the Tyco part number for these is 5-928999-5 for wire size 0.25-0.35mm2 or 5-963715-5 for wire 0.3-0.5mm2
