Due to the lockdown I purchased a 28w solar panel and a cheap 12v MPPT charge controller, charges at a max of 5 amps. I am happy with the performance and have had no issues of the last 10 months. I used the CTEK battery plug and purchased another plug for the charge controller so I can easily swap between solar or CTEK.

Thanks everyone Ctek seems to be the answer. Have to save a few more pennies.! Was interested to see the hard wired one on I think the Sport forum with a hidden electric adapter in the back bumper. I would be worried about it blowing when the car was running.

Was in Aldi this morning and they had battery chargers in. £12.99 they are suitable for AGM batteries and can charge both 6 and 12 volt batteries. Model no is Auto XS MD 19787. Can charge at either 0.8 or 5 A and once fully charged goes to trickle charge mode 0.05 to 0.15 A.

CTEK MXS 7.0 plugged into the boot 12V aux sockets which is permanently live. Works well, the CTEK charging lead is small enough to go past the seal between the upper and lower tailrgate. This setup is in a garage.
