United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Santorini Black

At last! I'm so pleased I joined this forum. Been trying to find this info for ages!

I thought that I might have to connect to the jumping terminals under the bonnet. That's a problem for me as I have to go forward into my garage then cannot open the bonnet.

I've got a CTEK 5.0, just need to get the cigarette lighter thing so I can go through the tailgate.

Cheers!

Not that I am aware of. There is a blanking piece on the rear bumper, I guess that's where it might be?

CTEK MXS 7.0 plugged into the boot 12V aux sockets which is permanently live. Works well, the CTEK charging lead is small enough to go past the seal between the upper and lower tailrgate. This setup is in a garage.

I've tried that with my CTEK 5.0 and just taken delivery of the cigarette lighter plug.

It doesn't seem to work. I've tried it in the boot, the rear passenger sockets and the driver's socket.

Tried it with ignition off, ignition on and nothing.

If I start the car then it works! So it appears that my sockets are not live if the engine is not actually running.

Am I doing something wrong?

I’ve got a NOCO genius as my CTEK MSX5.0 was taking forever to charge up a car and it doesn’t support Li-ion batteries.

Going to knock up a fly lead to the tow port too.

Wouldn't it be a great option if there was a properly engineered and installed socket where you could easily plug in your CTEK charger? After all, the CTEK charger is sold as a genuine Land Rover branded accessory. Be nice to be able to connect it without all this fuss.

Land Rover would never do that as it suggests that the car has a current drain issue, necessitating the need for a charge port.

Even though I think it's a good idea you can imagine what the motoring press would make of it.

I'm in the process of investigating a non working FBH on my 2012 TDV8 and want to rule out low battery voltage as a possible cause. Fuel Primer and FBH diagnostic tests using GAP IID appear to be successful but only with the engine running (once I clear the E7 by pulling the fuse). GAP is reading just 12v with ignition on which I think maybe marginal for the FBH ?

So, I next want to try having the battery on charge when I test it with engine off so that there is more than 12v in it when I test, but the owners manual specifically states not to charge the battery on the vehicle or else damage can occur. Finding this thread has made me think that it is actually ok to charge on the car either by direct connection th the battery terminals or through the towing socket or 12v aux boot socket which I will probably do as a more permanent solution once I have aquired a C-Tek or Optimate conditioner.
Am I right to think that I won't do any harm by charging on the car ?
Thanks
