Have a search on here, there is a sometimes problem with the starter and they do fail on occasion. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The solenoid is part of the starter issues normally revolve around the main feed in the solenoid getting sooted up/burnt. I had to replace mine at 80k. I don’t think you can detach the solenoid with the starter in place..... 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

I’ve had a new battery and starter and still get this issue. It can not do it for a few days, then sometimes once, sometimes four times, hot or cold. Occasionally I get the click then 2 seconds later it starts.

In cold weather the load on the starter will increase which in turn puts a load on the connections. Have you checked the battery connections? If not properly pushed on and tightened the symptoms you describe are one possibility. John

Battery to starter lead is apparently made up of 4 different sections plus a fuse can get dirty...just what I’ve read on here. Search using starter+motor in the search box function Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I am not a gambling man, but I would put my money on the starter motor to go first.

I would also suggest you're going to have to replace the starter motor.

There must be a reason the same starter motor contacts burn out on the 4.4, but not the 3.6... |

What we all really need is some sort of anti spark grease to put on the copper contacts and prevent arcing burn.

Sounds more like high resistance developing somewhere in the starter feed. |

Both Mpirie Mike and myself stripped failed motors and were gobsmacked by how badly burned the contacts were.
