The one thing I’ve found is that the 405 feels more fidgety than the 322.

Nicer place to sit and much more refined than the 322. But there is something about the relative lightness that makes the 405 a bit more jiggly on uneven dual carriageways, might try running slightly lower pressured to see if that makes a difference.

On the whole not regretting the 405 just missing the 322 a bit There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

If you are on 21" wheels and Scorpion Verdes, that might account for the fidgeting, they seem prone to tramlining, I thought it was the tread pattern, as when I have my 20" wheels and Duratacs on in the winter it does not happen, but I recall Red Merle saying he had cured the tramlining by using PVs on 20" wheels, so it might just be wheel/sidewall related. Only Range Rovers since 1988

On this topic, how do you guys who have moved to the 405 feel about the cabin environment and design?

Do you think it feels special like the 322?

L405 Cabin environment feels modern, plush, well put together, user friendly and a nice place to be.

On 22”s and Continental LX Sport tyres, ours feel solid and planted on the road. No tramlining and nice to drive.

When first moving from 322 to 405 there is an impression of the car being wider as the screen is slightly shallower, and the lights on the switches etc at the front of the headlining catch the eye a bit more. There is more reflection of interior lights in the side windows when driving in the dark. Storage options are different, there is no sunglasses holder in the headlining on the 405, but up to 18MY there are pockets under the armrests in the doors.

The 405 has more sound insulation, so quieter and more refined feel. MY 18 on has more comfortable seats, but controls move to the doors and look a bit gaudy to me, likewise the bright window controls and shiny wheel controls, I find matt surfaces more restful. The second screen that controls aircon etc in MY18 on looks great when perfectly clean, less so when smudged with finger marks. The 405 has lots of controls through touchscreens, I find these take attention away from the road for longer, so less useable on the move.

For me the main benefits of the 405 are greater performance and refinement, and not having to worry about rust which was a real problem on my 2012WM. There are some useful electrical devices such as soft door close, warnings of traffic behind and alongside. Downsides are smaller load area and rear seats that no longer tumble. The electric tailgate is a mixed blessing, with gesture control it makes loading the car much easier, but I can no longer open it in the garage as it hits the door. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Someone said the seats get more comfortable in my18 but i drove one and didn’t notice much difference..

The sunglasses thing is a bit of an issue but not as big an issue as i imagined.

The pillar behind the front seats is awkward if you’re a big guy (like me) getting in and out is not as smooth as it was with the L322.

But it is a marked step change in terms of smoothness of drive - I noticed that a two and half hour drive which used to leave me quite drained and needing a bit of downtime now leaves me feeling pretty fresh. I’ve even done the round trip in one day and felt ok. (I should add this is windy country lanes not all motorway driving).

I got the 4.4 engine and have no regrets on it - it’s a joy to drive.

On my 2017 4.4 just changed from 22" to 20" ,such a improvement,around town gone from driving like a Audi to a L322 without the pitching & rolling.

I'd definitely agree with you, having just made the move from a 2009 5.0 S/C L322 to a 2013 5.0 S/C L405. I think a lot of this comes from the clever suspension that is very soft but includes quite a lot of active anti-roll. Driving along a straight road in the L405, the front end feels rather 'floaty' and lightly damped compared to the L322. However, as soon as you get to a corner, its much more accurate with better turn in and a lot less roll. Essentially, it drives a lot more like a car.

The refinement is also significantly improved over the L322 - even quieter and more comfortable. If you're not paying attention you can end up travelling VERY quickly!

The only disappointment is that the accountants have clearly been at some parts of the interior, which just isn't as good quality as the late model L322s. Some of the switchgear feels less solid and it's a shame that the lid of the cubby box now feels so cheap without a gas strut...

However, overall, no regrets so far.

Nope. Love the L405. Interesting how some American Auto manufacturers are actually copying the roof line. New Ford Explorer, Lincoln Navigator.

It always sort of resembled the explorer. From the roofline to the earlier model tail lights. I believe this was carry over from when Ford owned it prior to TATA 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC
