Unless getting into true "classic car territory", I can't understand why the old / obsolete model of any car would be better or give a greater sense of occasion than the new version. I'm not prepared to spend circa £70k plus on one car, so I accept the happy compromise (much to the annoyance of my kids and their "street cred") of driving "the old model" /\ As far as an "ageing Bentley" is concerned, if you think a RR can be eye watering when they go wrong (let alone some routine jobs), don't even think about a Bentley - you can pick up a £5 - £10k bill without trying very hard at all |

Switched from my beloved L322 Vogue SE 3.0L diesel last week to L405 Vogue SDV8 4.4. diesel and must admit , I am very pleased with the 405. it has more of some things and less of others, but the MPG already is 5 MPG better than my old one and I've only done 300 miles so far. The engine is fantastic and the lack of roll in corners noticeable better than the L322 Seats are not as adjustable as my old one but more comfortable however. It does have the 22inch wheels which look great, but of course you do lose out on ride slightly with them being 40 profile tyres as opposed to the 60s I had on the L322. Must admit, I was also of the opinion mentioned earlier on this thread that the L322 will unfortunately become dated in a few years and pick up the 'old' name, but like the P38 did when the 322 came out so people started calling it the 'classic'. No regrets owning the L322 though, gave me over 7yrs of enjoyment and loved every time I stepped into it, I'm pretty sure the 405 will be the same Steve

Cheers - I have always preferred black cars but was considering cirrus grey and loire blue ones and this cirrus grey with the highlighted 'vents' and 22inch wheels really caught my eye and must say I really liked the look of it! Thanks to the guy who specified it 16months ago Steve

I disagree on the handling, it is way better than my previous L322 Supercharged, it is still no Cayenne but a superb compromise between good handling and comfort. It is no sportscar and is not meant to be driven as such! |

That's a fair comment, but driving normally down a country lane or other slightly uneven road means I get rocked from side to side and can actually see my bonnet bouncing up and down, the same sensation as the L322 would give. It may be reduced but the L405 still pitches and rolls on anything but the smoothest of roads.
