You don't need a rivnut tool, just the rivnuts and a bit of cunning....... If you place a riv nut in the hole, hold it in place with a small ring spanner and pass a bolt through the spanner, you can apply pressure to the rivnut to stop it spinning while you tighten the bolt up.... when the bolt is tight undo it, remove the spanner and  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Just stumbled on this thread..... was a bracket ever made? Did you go into production?

Those of you who've fitted the kit or had it as standard, does it damp the downward movement of the lower tailgate, stopping it "banging" at the bottom when opening ?

Reason for the question is that I had the opportunity to buy a second hand kit off a scrapped car for a bargain price, but when I tested that gas strut it appeared to only damp / slow movement in the upward direction. So it appeared to prevent you slamming the tailgate shut, but NOT damping it open. Because of that I decided it wasn't worth buying. Paul,

it does dampen the ladt bit of the downward motion...


maybe the kit you tedted hsd the strut upside down? ... - .- -.

I don't know about the availability overseas but here in the USA the parts are still available. I just got all of the needed parts from my local Land Rover dealer. It cost $110.92 USD plus our local sales tax.
