Sorry to add some extra questions, did everyone that deleted remove the butterfly valves? I was looking at getting the ECU patch from bell auto services, they say both must be done? I just wondered if removing the valves affected anything else, cold start etc. Or is it better to get a tuner add the patch? If so any advise on one in Suffolk either mobile or a workshop?

I've ran the bell remap and patch for a couple of years with the valves removed (throttle butterfly valve) without any issues.... In that regard car runs perfectly. Bas say they must be removed but is vauge as to why from memory... I guess he wants to know they won't try to close causing further problems... Either way I like the idea that they are gone as they can only be restrictive

Great thanks.

I just spoke with BAS, they said on the 3.6 it can be a bit of a faff to take them out and they haven’t had any reported problems with not taking them out so not to worry. Blanking plates installed (one of the easier jobs I’ve done), so for no EML but 2-3 better mpg! Not what I did it for but very nice!

Done the delete today to pass some time, not contemplated the map out as a few members seem to running fine without. Welcome some thoughts on mapping the EGR butterflies v leaving connected with to the ECU !

Just done this today on mine using the eBay kit. Sounds quieter, no engine light came on, and easy to do but very fiddly. Took about an hour or just over.

The kit was basically £35. I also bought a blanking plate for the wife's Freelancer 2, for less than £4. 5 mins to fit and it is also quieter and the MPG has improved.

I’m seriously thinking about removing the remap and putting it back to standard but I’m worried about the EML coming on if I do. Currently it’s remapped with a digital and mechanical EGR delete. If I re-install the standard map then the EGRs will start to work again and I’m told the ecu is different on the 2010 models. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

i have had my 2010 mapped and egr mapped and delete and it’s made a massive difference on performance and mpg

so anybody with TDV8 2010 with DPFs sucessfully running with EGRs delete for some time?

Mine 2010 having issues with EGRs delete + remap so today i put original software back to ECU and heading to replace defective EGRs but ... is it possible to leave them blanked off but working normally?

I dont want them but i dont want to remap them off and solving any issues again

My 2010 hasn’t got a dpf and I have only ever seen two with as I believe it was an option in the uk from what I get told you need the egr’s if you have a dpf

You have a remap which includes an egr delete file?

What fault codes were you getting if you know?

I dot see how the dpf's relate to the egr system in any way.. other than they should be removed and mapped out also Razz Thumbs Up

England 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Cairns Blue

M 2007MY 3.6TDV8 been running with the EGRs blanked off , but NOT deleted from the ECU software for the last 18 months without any problems or EML illumination.

Unfortunately, the EML has now decided to come on & checking with the GAP has confirmed a mismatch of EGR behaviour vs demand.
I haven't investigated further yet, but presumably my EGRs have continued to deteriorate to the point they're occasionally sticking, causing the error & EML coming on.

I'm not sure it's a great idea to carry out a software delete now before confirming whether the EGRs are closing correctly.
I've got no basis for it, but there's a nagging doubt that if they're stuck open, it might cause some oddity to the exhaust system operation that might not be good long term. The worry is probably unfounded, as if they're mapped out, they will stop moving & shouldn't deteriorate further.

Before I remove the EGRs for inspection, has anyone removed faulty EGRs, cleaned them & regained successful operation ? Paul,

Hey guys I'm looking to do this on my Overfinch but searching eBay i can only find the blanking kits for the tdv6 not the tdv8. Are they same ones you can use on the tdv8 or different? And they don't come with the shorter bolts. Be great if some of you good people on here could put me in the right direction? Thanks.
