Is this smart charger / battery conditioner suitable?

I’ve already got one of these for another car and pleased with it. It’s a Maypole MP7423 And is only £22 on Amazon. It was recommended by a reputable Lotus dealer who has used them for years. So I just bought another with the view of using it on the FF TDV8. However, I just noticed on the box it says for cars you to 2.5L Obviously a 4.4L diesel is a little over that! But then it also says for batteries up to 120ah? Which is in range?

So is it going to be suitable or not? Surely it’s the battery it’s charging so why does the engine size matter?

Any thoughts/opinions? Or even better experience with one of these on a FFRR?

Can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be suitable for your intended usage. Thumbs Up

I use a lowly old CTEK 3.6 which is rated to 120ah too. It takes a while longer than a mates CTEK 7.0 which I have also tried, but it is perfectly capable of handing the battery in my Westie. On this basis I can't see why the Maypole isn't up to the job. Current: FF Westminster money pit

Good thing about Ctek is if you have towing electrics then you get an adaptor to charge the battery via tow socket Thumbs Up

If you have a single 7pin then adaptor won’t work. Either twin 7 or the 13 pin works a treat Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I did see those and they do one for the SAE type connector that is on the maypole chargers. I do have the twin plug at the back too. I was going to get one but then thought just hard wiring to the battery and having it poking through the bonnet by the windscreen underneath the lip would be preferable to routing around under the back of the car each time I want to connect or disconnect. So far it’s working well like that.

I had a quick look on Amazon and could only find a MP7423A at £22.99 or a MP7423 at £36.59. Is it the “A” your referring to?. Might get one actually Thumbs Up
