Australia 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Bournville

The 4-pots were labelled Brembo whereas the 6-pot, at least on the L322, do not have Brembo on them, making the 1st picture 4-pots and the 2nd 6-pots.

Bit of a generalising statement that, I'll explain more...

Caliper carriers on the early Sport + D3 are the same.
4 pot Brembos fit both cars

Hub carriers on the facelift Sport are the same as the early Sport/D3 (Not strictly true, but for this purpose, they are)
Facelift Sport has 6 pots
Therefore, 6 pots fit Disco 3

All 6 pot calipers are interchangeable between L320/L405/L494 and can also be fitted to the L319 Thumbs Up

Hi all I’m in the middle of up grading my calipers to 6pot calipers off a L322 TDV8.. and they do say brembo on them

MY07-09 L322 3.6 TDV8 have 4-pot Brembos.

pre 09 have different hubs to 09 to 12 l322 i used info from an exellent post in wiki with part nos 👍👍

Standard D3 hub carriers. Which are the same as RRS*, which came with standard brakes, 4 pots and 6 pots. Bolt on upgrade
The D3 only came with the same standard brakes, 4/6 pots were never an option

The only modification needed is a new backplate (plus discs, pads, calipers, wear sensor, to avoid any confusion Rolling Eyes) which also bolts on

*same, but different

And that makes absolutely NO sense Mickey! How can you bolt both a 4 pot & a 6 pot calliper on the same cast hub? The bolt diameters are quite different!
Hence only 09MY> FF’s having the correct hub castings to fit 6 pots!
And pre 09MY only the 4 POT!

No, they are not. They are the same

The only difference is on the L322, where the hubs/calipers were changed at 2010MY

D3/RRS hub have always had the bigger hubs, allowing fitment of both 4 pot Brembo's from a Range Rover Sport, as well as 6 pot Brembo's from a Range Rover Sport, which are compatible with ALL 6 pot calipers from ALL RRS/L322/L405 models

WOW! OK....

Im not going to sit here and argue with your logic! or lack of it! re read your posts above, they contradict each other!...

Suffice to say my 2004MY D3 could only take 4 pot callipers from the RRS SC with the smaller mounting bolts! Our present 15MY D4 has 6 pot callipers with the MUCH larger mounting bolts! The D3 HSE (we owned) had a different hub & brake mounting size

My 2003MY TD6 L322 had 4 pot Brembo's from an SC! My later 2006MY L322 SC obviously had 4 pots from factory! And my 2011 last of the line 4.4 TDV8 came with 6 pots. These we took off and had the colour changed!

All of the callipers i have removed at some time or another to paint etc

No Craig, the caliper mounting holes are the same size between D3, D4, RRS and later L322 hubs.

The 4 pots from a Sport fit because they are the same size mounts as the D3, which is the same as the D4


The only Brembo calipers with the smaller mounting holes are from the 02-09 L322

No Disco 3 ever left the factory with calipers requiring the smaller mounts

Microcat 2012 agrees with you Mikey - thanks. I didn't contemplate the possibility that the 4-pots fitted to L322s might not be the same as those fitted to L320s although possibly just the holes drilled larger for non-L322 fitment.
