Oil wont cause a sensor to misread whereas a MAP sensor blocked by carbon caused by oil + exhaust gas can cause the sensor to misread. |

Yep my MAP sensor was rather blocked and contaminated as you suggest.

MAP is in the doughnut and MAF is in the main intercooler feed hose....that’s how I remember it |

Whilst the 2012 version of Microcat doesn't show the sensor in the I/C to throttle body hose, the wiring schematic shows the sensor as Sensor - Temperature - Air Charge. as I expected. |

Thanks Rjff. It sounds as though the sensor is bonded in place which would explain why it isn't listed in Microcat. |

The sensor is air temperature/density sensor and is a part of hose that attaches to the throttle body.

Pulled mine out yesterday and it was also covered in dry soot , quick blast with brake cleaner , leave to dry and back in , can't report on how it drives as the other half is using it but she's off for a long drive down to Minehead at the weekend so I'll reset the trip and see if it makes any diff to fuel usage . |

Spent this afternoon doing this cleaning. The doughnut manifold comes out quite easily if you remove the large cabin air filter section at the bottom of the windscreen - it's only held on with 2 nuts.

I've been reading (elsewhere)you shouldn't use brake cleaner on MAF/Ps
