some nice pictures for you Greg, this is right side of the car. it is in front of the starter and above and behind half shaft.easi to get to it. to check the operation have somebody give contact while you watch. if it moves it is ok.

Wow Nino thank you! Is there any photo you don’t have?
When you say ‘somebody give contact’, do you mean engine running and accelerate the revs?
. Cheers, Greg

engine not running, when you give contact, car checks operacion of the turbo actuator. it goes up and down and makes klik / klak sound. when you learn the sound it can be heard from inside car every time you give contact. 2012 TDV8 Black Edition

Thanks John & Nino for clarifying.

Just tried that and no clicking on ignition 'contact'. But I am familiar with that click clack sound, very distinct I hear it every time I start up; in my case I hear it with the brake pedal and therefore on start up.

I used to think it was the starter solenoid (albeit loud for a starter solenoid).

I'll have another listen in a few minutes with a helper this time.

Cheers guys. Thumbs Up

. Cheers, Greg

Also, another question for the team:

Do I have the later type donut hoses:

I've done a search, I can see a different type in people's pictures on hoses posts but can't find a definite answer on which is the newer type.

. Cheers, Greg

I think you have the original weaker ones Greg.
Mine:

Clearly thick walled heavy duty type....I’m sure they are easy to make up from a length of tubing if dimensions are known... Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I watched it all the way there and back... it never got to 14g and exhaust temp never went over 375 c... but it was up and down all day doing passive regens presumably ???

Great pictures Nino... I have never looked down there, but will be soon.

I am back in Wales Thursday , preparing for daughters wedding. next Saturday when B.B will be driving the bride to church.

Greg, if there are no cracks in the ruber, no need to change. I am at 230K km and hoses look good. and I like look of the originals better/more to it then just rubber hose/. 2012 TDV8 Black Edition

Thanks Mike & DrRob, super helpful!

A bit of googling told me an air leak - or a vacuum leak could cause a low boost error, not just the actuator.

So at the moment it could be a bunch of things.
Cracked manifold, hoses, turbo actuator etc etc etc.
A smoke test probably best to find any leaks for both.

The CSOV is still suspect in my mind:

Nino - when you took apart your change over valve, was it faulty ?
Or just excellent Nino-style maintenance?

. Cheers, Greg

I was replacing serpentine belt Greg, and it is much easier if you take valve out. i did check valve and it was ok. applied some white grees and reinstall. 2012 TDV8 Black Edition

Greg,

I checked out the hose size and they are available from here cheaper than Dan, but sorry I can’t remember size, but easy for you to measure., or I can re measure later in week.
