There are quite a lot of straps on these. One of my straps on the exhaust looked similar to yours.

This one is the main Engine/Chassis strap on the RH side near the engine mounting.

Salt accelerated corrosion on the woven type straps. Can look good visually but disintegrate when pulled.
Once treated a replacement one with waxoyl before fitting and was still good fifteen years later, shame the bodywork eventually rotted out. Forty years of progress. 1972-2012

I had a quick look for a part number but didn’t find one.

I’m just using a generic 35mm2 (180A) 30cm long copper strap.

That's why I have fitted an additional 35mm² insulated earth strap from the engine/gearbox to the earth point on the top of the left strut turret. Always tend to on cars.
At least now I can see both bolted connections and the whole of the cable.
Given the importance of the engine earth strap I can never understand why manufactures use braided material and hide them away somewhere obscure.

The braided ground strap is used to conduct high frequency electrical noise. High frequency in the megahertz or radio frequency range. High frequency current travels on the surface of a conductor. Braided engine earth straps absorb engine vibration better and therefore last longer than more solid ones which eventually fracture.

Yes - I agree - braided is best.
Generic copper ones available for around £20 from eBay and other places !

I use welding cable when I fit earth straps for the reasons above.

I’m half way through replacing my alternator and found the very same today when the cr@p weather finally relented.

I can see one end of it, where it bolts to the chassis but the other end disappears up into a space I can’t see. Anyone know where the other end bolts on? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

I seem to recall, but am not certain, that it bolts to the engine mounting (engine side of the mounting, obviously)..

Have a feel up and around the mounting and yiou should find the end !

I would say it's well worth having a look at the strap if you are ever under the covers !! If mine was like this, I would expect many others are too ...

Had a same problem too. Sadly it was the last thing I checked, so I now I got a spare starter.
Salty Norwegian roads has destroyed copper strap.

The front strap is located on the right side, front of the wheel arch. Front part of underbody plate has to be removed.
Rubber shield behind the wheel has to go down too. (10mm bolt)
Trickiest part is removing the screw holding the earth strap on the engine side, since it’s very close to the intercooler pipe.
Flat wrench and some fiddling with fingers will do the job.

Just remember to clean it before install, since it’s gonna be likely corroded too.

New shiny strap is seen on the picture. Hope it helps.
