I am currently at the stage now where i am ready to time my m62 engine after a total rebuild which i started back in January and awaiting delivery of the GAS tools, I have followed this topic and have learned lots of valuable information so thanks too

i was just thinking that you are in Essex so just across the water from me and realised you are in waleshire ..

the guy over the road is a mechanic, he came over and we spent some time trying to find out why it has a miss, it seems to only be missing on idle, once you touch the accelerator the miss seams to go.
we couldn't find any reason for the miss.
i am thinking it might be a manifold gasket leak
i have been taking it around the block for a bit of a run, trying to get the feel of it, when i leave the three amigos are on, after about a KM they go off, a KM later they come on again
it says on the dash, the air suspension is not working but i can hear the compressor going some times and it looks ok
i want to get it insured before i take it far and i keep forgetting to do that during the day
i will have to get some prices RR 2005 4.4 petrol

If your timing is out a bit then that will give you a miss on idle . The air suspension will try and fill the reservoir but if the pressure isn’t increasing as expected it will throw a fault. You said your battery is ok didn’t you?
You should have other fault codes stored if your diagnostics are finding them.

just went up the road,110km/h thats the max here.
the engine is fine when accelerating or decelerating but when you just touch the pedal to maintain the speed it misses badly, you would think you had square wheels

Long story short whilst awaiting the GAS tools that should be here next week i pushed on slowly rebuilding a 2nd engine i purchased with a view on keeping it as a just in case i need it scenario. So all i have to do now is time up the newly built engine i have in my car now (not looking forward to that) and hopefully get to drive it soon something that i have not done since purchase last December. haven't done any thing, insured it, (we dont have to insure here,) just take it for a drive, its still missing badly just as i touch the pedal
trying to get the hang of it, so many buttons to press.
the valance on the front seat is broken, $480 from LR, $250 on ebay, buts thats dear.
i will fit a new fuel filter and change the rest of the plugs next, not that i think that will fix any thing but i am sure they are dew
the three amigos go on and off at will
some time ago i enquired about the price of tires, the cheapest was about $350
i just got one fitted and balanced, $150, i will get the spare done, then i can put the spare in and i will be legal RR 2005 4.4 petrol

before i pulled this engine to pieces, it started immediately and ran, no problem.
since its back together it starts ok then stalls.
it will do this several times before it runs.
this is without using the accelerator
i get the feeling it needs choke
i am wondering if i have not connected something some where
any ideas

Try driving without the Air flow meter plugged in. I've had it before on BMW engines and it drives like a carb'd engine.
Also if i read it right, 3 amigos and steering angle sensor fault. After having disconnected the battery you need to start the car with the steering wheel in centre, then go from lock to lock in both directions. This should re initialise the angle sensor and tell it which way its pointing.

Hey there all good here and got my motor running after the costly engine rebuild only finished it last week as busy doing other things like working and making some money . I am about to send it in for it's annual MOT as soon as i have fitted a new suspension bush or bushes, then off on a road trip to Romania fishing for a couple of weeks 3,000 miles round trip that will be exciting and looking forward to it. With reference to your problem it could well be a overlooked lead left unplugged although i would have thought it would show something on diagnostics ? did you have any joy with the 3 amigos and remember you were awaiting on a wheel sensor delivery i attach some pics of mine
