Couldn't agree more - makes no sense to leave the dirty filter and not change/check the magnets which are all part of the sump. I bought a genuine ZF (made by Filtran) Sump and Lifeguard Oil kit for £180 and that came with a new set of bolts. It's not a difficult job to do and any competent mechanic could do it in about an hour.

This was a 120k sump taken apart a while back. Still looks clean to me

Yeah I bet they start off that nice caramel colour when new so the dirty oil doesn’t discolour them too much. 👠|

I’m just about to have mine done on my TDV8 with 95k on the clock. I’ve been quoted 506 all in with new filter, mechatronic and the diff oils for good measure.

Yes I did. It was cheaper in the end as I didn’t have the filter changed 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded |
