Well a busy afternoon looking every which way for the leak but sadly no success.

We removed the turbo to intercooler pipe on the o/s (what a job!) As it looked to be coming from this hose but its absolutely fine.

We plugged the hose just before it joins the intercooler and we still get smoke so the leak has at least been narrowed down a small amount.

I am going to remove and inspect the intake pipework from the airbox to the turbo tomorrow.

After a bank holiday Monday of rolling around on the floor swearing the short PCV hose is now firmly attached with 2 hose clamps.

And.... the RR drives no different.

Ive given up and booked it in with the specialist on Thursday for them to have a go.

If they can't find the problem then it'll be at webuyanycar on Friday.

Right, car back with a report from the specialist.

Full smoke test carried out and absolutely no leaks on the intake, boost or vaccum hoses etc.

They ran an dynamic air path test from within SDD which turned up the following. (See attatched pictures)

Not sure how to interpret the results. They are suggesting a fault with the VNT on the n/s turbo but I have checked this for operation..

They also concerned this could be a red herring due to the remap.

Any thoughts?

Are you able to read the live values of the EGR valves?

I had one in yesterday with no EGR codes stored, but the OS valve was all over the place

2 new valves, and customer said it drove back home perfectly...

The EGR valves are physically blanked and also mapped out on mine.

An early start this morning,

Intake pipe to n/s (bank 2) turbo removed, turbine in good shape with no damage to fins. No axial play in the turbine and very minimal (half a mm) side to side. (This is considered normal/acceptable from what I can tell?)

Electronic actuator tested using SDD commanded from 0 - 100% in 10% increments. See video below




I also unplugged the actuator, ran the engine and held the actuator in the 100% position. I think the VNT / VGT vanes inside the turbo are working as the bank 2 MAF signal drops (see video below) and then recovers when I let the actuator rest at 0%.



So I believe that is everything checked on the N/S turbo except the condition of the exhaust side of the turbine but
I am going to have to assume given the rest of the turbo seems to be in good shape this will be ok too.

Back to square one all out of ideas again.

I'd be inclined to remove the EGR blanks. The PCM expects to see a drop in MAF values when the EGR's open...

Possibly even have the remap removed and put back to standard, just to eliminate it as a cause

This is one of the strangest problems ever.
If it were me I would have the map checked to eliminate that, as mentioned. Do you know who did the remap?
As you have thoroughly eliminated any physical flow restrictions it really only can be electronic.
As for the EGR's opening, surely thats why they are mapped out. To tell the ecu to ignore the egr values.
If the turbo actuator was the issue you would get a code pop up. Sensor values have been checked. No manifold splits or vacuum leaks. No boost leaks.

I am sure the EGRs can be ruled out of this Mikey as they are phsyically blanked and unable to recirculate into the intake as well as being mapped out in the cars software.

All this was done a month prior to these problems arising. I had no noticeable performance issues when the check engine light was on for the EGRs. (Low flow code, egr stuck closed)

Ive spoken to the remappers who were very helpful and pulled up my cars original map which they had saved to check for any prior issues of which they said there were none.

Sadly as its a franchise business (quantum) its up to each franchisee if they charge or not. Sadly it will be £250 to remove the map and go back to standard.

So, you had no issues prior to remap and blanking

I had the check engine light on for an EGR issue, had them blanked and mapped out.

It was over a month later than a boost hose split and all these issues appeared directly afterwards.

I would have thought if it was an EGR related issue then I would have had problems whilst the check engine light was on ( i didnt) and I had no problems for during the month after the remap.

So to clarify again these issues occured after a split boost hose over a month after the egrs were blanked and mapped out.

Quantum is a decent map. I and a few others on here have their map without issues so it probably isn"t your issue. I wasn't sure you knew the history of it which is why it was suggested.
Bar having the engine loom checked for broken wires and continuity, I'm out of ideas.
You are sure the actuator is funtioning correctly and there is no issue with the linkage.
After all the work you have done are the symptoms the same or improved slightly or ???? 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Have you checked MAF sensor values.
Is it worth swapping them over to see if the symptoms move to the other bank 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal
