During removal and refitting you may be bumping the nearby air-box so any wiring near or on the air-box may be getting a jiggle, such as the connector for the MAF. |

You will just have to fiddle with wiring in an area then see if there's any change, then try another area. If the cover is being R&R'd then leave it off whilst hunting down the culprit, which could be anywhere the cover touches if triggered by the cover. You're getting very close to solving the mystery. |

Have you tried leaving the plastic engine cover off yet?

Decision time. Do you feel its air restriction or electrical. Given that the split in the hose was clean I would suspect electrical and, more specifically , a broken wire. It's all that's left. Get an auto electrician to sort it and end the saga. I feel your pain. Good luck. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal |

A second set of eyes, perhaps even carefully watching as you go through the process of removing then refitting the hose that at least sometimes temporarily fixed the problem. |

I am not really sure if electrical or air restriction Grofus. I don't think it would be a broken wire as the ecm would report a fault code for this as the sensors are monitored.
