United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Orkney Grey
Harmon Kardon Logic 7HD

Hi,

I bought a late 2012 TDV8 Westminster a few weeks back. Since having it I’ve been really unimpressed with the audio system.

Having tried Radio, DAB and MP3 files via USB, the system seems to really lack depth and bass in particular.

Just wanted to understand if this is a trait of the system or if elements are prone to becoming faulty on the system.

If it's a Westminster it should have the HD 1200w system.
In which case you should have plenty of depth and bass.

First thing - check the basics - if you press the bottom left music symbol, check your bass and sub is turned up.

Source does matter and whilst DAB's not too bad, you really want to check it with an iPod or CD source.
The USB I've been told is an analogue input whereas the iPod input is digital.

. Cheers, Greg

Have checked all the settings and still no joy.

I guess next check will be the physical condition of the subwoofer.

With my HD the speakers are like air pumps, one time the door speaker was making my jeans flap with the bass.

Maybe you have a problem with your amp. If you get an IID tool you can check for errors. They are well worth it for anything amiss.

Another thing that can happen is water ingress, the amp is in the back so get into the lower passenger compartment in the boot

. Cheers, Greg

I don't listen to the radio but mine is much richer playing from a USB stick with Logic 7 enabled than when not.

I thought the sub had gone on mine but had it checked and it was 'ok'. No oomph at low to medium volume. Motorway noise drowns out the bass. Only solution is to wind up the volume, then it's fine Thumbs Up 2012 5.0L S/C

I did a little reading around the HK logic because I didn't think my sub was working.

One thread I read here on FF suggested using the front/rear fader to move the sound slightly to the rear. Then turn up the sub. I didnt think my sub worked at all and hence the research, but after this little test, I can say it definitely does. It isn't the kind of window shaking sub that you might get from a local ICE store, but it does work and is rather subtle, but I like that.

Ok, showing my age a little. Private Investigations and Telegraph Road both have a couple of nice moments where the bass drum kicks in quite hard. With the sound set slightly to the rear and some additional sub woofer +++ on my settings and it makes my hair stand on end now. Before it was lack lustre.

Hope you can find the same.
Mark

We did exactly the same thing just this afternoon!

For weeks we thought our 2012 Westminster also lacked ‘punch’ through the Logic7 system. Like you we moved the fader about and found a big difference with a rear biase...it now sounds marvellous. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

With the view of having an open mind, I shall experiment with my Logic 7 back on.

Did you experiment? How did you get on?

I’ve always been impress with my logic 7 but I may give a slightly rear bias a go. How much of a rear bias do people go? Regards
